You really have to practice these problems a LOT. Only a few "rules or properties" with regards to these arrangements, but there are many varied variations of the theme which can only be cleared up with practice. This is the best video I ever seen explaining them.

You can combine logs that are being added with multiplication so ln((x/(x-1))((x+1)/x)-ln(x^2-1). The x's will cancel giving you ln((x+1)/(x-1))-ln(x^2-1). Combine the subtraction as division and don't forget to factor the difference of squares x^2-1 and (x+1)(x-1) as you are simplifying.

I'm an engineering student and am taking Calculus II. I had not realized until this point that I somehow missed logs entirely swapping schools in high school. My professor quickly brushed past basic log properties and went on to integrating natural logs. I was more than lost as I had no idea what a log function was or how to use one. I have cruised through a few different peoples' videos in an attempt to educate myself over the weekend to be more prepared come Monday, and found you not only educational in a way I could understand but also entertaining. Thanks for the videos!

@profrobbob
@profrobbob 9 жыл бұрын
USMC-BREW You could do ln3+lnx - (lny+lnz^2), then ln(3x)-ln(yz^2), finally ln((3x)/(yz^2)) You handle natural log just like any other log base:)
