Using SketchUp to design an Art Deco Fireplace

Going to explore Sketchup. Used to drawing flat plans in Illustrator, Indesign and CorelDraw. I know Corel and Illustrator can create 3D visuals, but I've never had the patience to learn due to most of my work being design for print. The push/pull feature looks ace....!

I finally took the plunge into sketchup last week and man, im so glad I did. its fairly easy to use (after watching a bunch of tutorial youtube videos) and it is so helpful. I havent used it for any products yet. I am currently in the process of renovating my shop to make it bigger, so Ive mocked up a few possible shop layouts with sketchup and its sooooooo good to see what it could look like and how some options would or wouldnt work due to the size of the shop. The fact that I can get to see these different possible layouts before I start this is amazing. Cant wait to start using sketchup for actual projects.

Great video thank you. Im in West Moor not far from Gosforth. Starting to maoe furniture to sell, would you recommend sketchup as a prodoct for this, or 6 years later do you have a better recommendation now 😂?

I just download plans that i like, i have never made one up myself but forget SketchUp, tried it didn't like it. I'm one of those people that has to be shown physically how to do something rather than read or watch, you know like they showed you in school all those years ago ha ha ha. I learned Sketchup by watching Ron Paulk (kzbin.info) and he has loads of Sketchup walkthroughs

Edit > Delete Guides to quickly remove all the guidelines in your project.

Just beginning myself as well. was going to say the same. when making guide line pull away from anywhere but a mid point or edge. The number of time I wishper nice things to my PC screen.
