Hi. I have an SG500 and I use SubliJet HD ink. Unisub is not an option for a substrate. What color profile should I use when printing on EasySubli Vinyl what is best when printing on sub paper? Many people continue to tell me to use the Siser profile in my printer BUT that is only good if I am using EasySubli ink which I am not. Thank you for your help!

If printing on texprint-r paper you want to choose the substrate that matches the product that you are putting your design on. You can choose ceramic for coffee mugs for example. If printing onto the Easysubli vinyl you want to use the Easysubli profile so the system recognizes you are printing onto Easysubli material.

Any way to get the second method to work on lighter cotton garments? I'm assuming the entire sub print would be transfered onto the shirt and fade around the vinyl when washed.

This is what I was wondering as well. When you place the sublimation paper with the print on it over the wording, will the whole design not transfer to your shirt? Especially if you are using a lighter colored shirt with some polyester in it?

It is best to use the 2nd method on a dark tee. When printing on a lighter color, the excess ink could transfer and be visible. Most of the ink does come out in the wash, but it depends on the color of the print and the color of the shirt. We recommend using 100% cotton tees for this application, as the ink will adhere to a 50/50 blend shirt (since it part polyester).

You can use any substrate (we used unisub) and for paper we selected Texprint.

I used an Epson printer with sublimation inks but it was smeared after printing. I let it dry under the thermo press for a few minutes but when I wanted to cut in the cutting plotter, it was still smearing. If I buy a Sawgrass SG500 with SubliJet UHD inks, will it also be smeared? Or do I have to buy Siser inks?

You can use regular SubliJet UHD inks with EasySubli vinyl. With any printer and ink combination, however, it is recommended to let the inks cure/dry under the hot heat press for one minute and then on your table for an additional few hours or overnight. Selecting the proper paper or substrate is important, too, as this will determine how much ink is laid on the paper.

Hi Erica, You will want to select Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) for your substrate.

Sublijet HD is the older ink set for the SG400 and SG800 sublimation printers. The Sublijet UHD is for the SG500 and SG1000 printers.

How long the ink lasts depends on the size of your design, the colors in your design and the amount of use. Unless you are printing the same exact design it would take months before one cartridge empties and it is rare for more then one colro to go t the same time.

Changing of the ink is not recommended as this would void the warranty on the printer. Also, if you decide to switch the ink, you will need to flush the current ink from the printer and replace with a new set of inks. When doing this process, there will be less than 15% of the new cartridges left, and will then require another set of inks.

The Easysubli vinyl is very soft and flexible. It is softer then HTV and moves with the shirt very well. Please note if you are using a full square, block or rectangle of a design with a heavy amount of ink you will get a thicker feel with any product.
