I must say, very interesting walk around with your new tractor. You two make the videos so interesting and great to watch. I grew up with I-H tractors and to show my age they had one kind of seat - steel! When dad got cushions I thought I was in heaven when it got cold here in northern Iowa. When we got a heat houser you could at least stay warm in one direction plowing in cold fall weather. Later on when I got cabs with AC, I installed stereo radios and 8 track tape players (another sign of my age) and a custom seat. I'm not sure I could even operate one of the new tractors, and why not have the best when you are spending the largest part of your day working in the tractor cab! I enjoy your videos with the both of you because I grew up on a dairy farm and making hay was a big part of my summers.

I've used the De-greaser Purple Power and it works great. The one thing I have noticed though is that with repeated usage, it starts to turn some paint chalky, which is a little scary, cause I don't want to repaint anything if I don't have to ! Anything they can put into a tractor to make it easier for you, "The farmer", I'm all for it. Farming is hard enough for you guys already. Awesome video as always.

I've really enjoyed watching you're (your) videos. They are just two (too) good! Would you consider making a video that tells us about your history: how and why you got into the hay business. Also, would you consider making a video that shows the difference in hay quality, how a guy buying a bale of hay can tell its quality from another one. I grew up on a cotton farm in Lubbock, Texas, was a John Deere service manager, and managed a cotton gin. For a boy that grew up in the city, you sure know equipment. Where did you learn that? Thanks for the videos. I mostly enjoy the two of you enjoying one another.

Quick question a little off topic but have you guys ever had any issues with the accumulator and grapple? I recently purchased the same setup but had a lot of issues with the hooks going into the bales? I think part of the problem was the bales may be too soft, as we were having a problem with some bales in the accumulator as well, we are using a very old new holland baler but I am looking into a new, new holland 5070 or a new Massey 1840, if you guys have any opinions there as well would be great, thanks and good videos!
@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын
+The Greg Taylor vlog get the Massey, it's a better baler no question. What does the claw do exactly? The claw raising as it tries to penetrate the bale is a warning sign it was baled too wet.
@thegregtaylorvlog44127 жыл бұрын
North Texas Hay I just checked the hay with a John Deere moisture tester and the bales averaged 17-20%, I was surprised at that because all the bales felt good and there's no mould, I know part of the problem was the softness and odd banana shaped bale, as some would get jammed and fold around inside the accumulator, but maybe the moisture was part of the problem with the grapple, thanks for the advice
@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын

Ever look at the Mahindra tractors? We bought ours and it doesnt have DEF. We got it used, but its only a 2015 model with 114 hours at the time.
@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын
Snipe Stud00 I don't think mahindra makes a tractor the size I need and I believe after 2015 is when the def was mandatory
@danielthomason56857 жыл бұрын
Def is required on 2015 models I believe it just only used typically on tractors 90 horse and above which mahindra doesn't make I don't think....plus mahindra uses a different system there tractors are basically always in regen mode which makes for low longevity and poor fuel economy.... They may be an alright tractor for a weekend warrior but can not handle daily farm life
@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын
Daniel Thomason my 2015 6125m didn't have def but I know it was one of the last ones that didn't.
@danielthomason56857 жыл бұрын
Ok I guess some manufacturers started in 2015 they just released there their 4 final sooner than required maybe...manufacturers don't have to use def if they can meet their 4 final without it I believe it's just nearly impossible on larger horsepower tractors....other than cost being more its really a non issue to me. Just keep it revved during regen and keep working...biggest draw back for me on the dog and emissions crap is you really shouldn't let your tractor idle for long periods its extremely hard on the dpf it will prematurely wear it out
@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын
Daniel Thomason thank you for that information, I will makes sure we don't idle as much as possible
@jddriver95657 жыл бұрын
there are some things that makes the M series cheaper (like the cab of the 6030 series) and some people (like us with the 6115M really like the old way the 6M is built because we already know it from the 6020 series and 6030 series). for you the 6M is not enough. so every tractor has its own advantages and the 6M and 6R are not really comparable. In my opinion...
