This short video is about using the Korg NTS-2 oscilloscope as a musical instrument. Sort of? It's more of an overview and a few specific thoughts than any sort of tutorial. I hope it gives you some ideas for using the NTS-2 in your own sounds. Thanks for watching!
TIMELINE
00:00 The NTS-2 has an X-Y Mode. Quite nice.
00:11 INTRO
Just some general thoughts about the NTS-2. Is it useful? Is it the best value? It took forever to get one (and then I took forever to make this video).
05:10 HANDS ON
I focus on the signal generation capacities of the NTS-2, specifically for audio signal generation. Pretty much any of this could be taken to a higher voltage and used as an offboard modulation voltage for some modular or semi-modular synth.
17:21 OUTRO
Brief music discussion. If you want the specific frequencies that I used in the demo (below) then leave a comment and I'll do my best.
18:54 DEMO
Sort of a sketch of a song? I'm taking sounds out of the two generator channels of the NTS-2 and running them through the Walrus Audio M1 modulation pedal for some reverb. One thing I do, not mentioned in the hands on part of the video, is cycle through the different generator types to make a simple melody (on Channel 2).
