When I watch this, I feel like I did today talking to a world class fly fisherman. I don't totally get it but I am fascinated by your expertise. And I know there are musicians out there that will benefit greatly from you generously sharing your extensive knowledge. All I know is that the end product you share through your performances gives me and my friends great joy. Thank you for all you do Richie.

Your timing of this video was perfect! I just purchased a Synergy Syn-30 amp that has three midi channels to choose and I plan on using the HXFX in 4cm. Your explanation of the command center help me make sense of it. Thank you Richie!

I run the Syn 2 in a loop of my helix in 4cm stereo out to Syn 50/50 to cabs. I use the helix xlr out to a Friedman ASC12 for other amp/cab models I don’t have. 🤘😎🤘 killer sounding.

Man i remember when that preamp came out. I couldn't afford one at the time but I wanted one so bad. They didn't seem to stick around too long either. It sounds great in the video. I wish they'd remake these.

Just bought a hx effects off eBay and awaiting its arrival, I bought it to use with my bluguitar amp1 original model. I also have a Marshall jmp1 preamp and a boogie 20/20 power amp so will also be experimenting a little as I’m sure that the jmp1 has midi. Great video and awesome tones.

Very cool video Ritchie! Although I am just an intermediate with a simple Zoom G5n it is great to learn all about the digital guitar world and what is possible. It was great seeing you and saying Hi (with a Pic!) at the BOC show in Burbank CA. You are a blessing to the KZbin guitar music world.

hx effects is kinda ok , I suggest a tc electronic g major 2 or a g force or rocktron replifex or eventide eclipse , and for cab sim i suggest analog cabs or a nice unit like two notes studio , a powerful processor for ir impulses givs the best tone , this guys setup sounds great tho

Steve Fryette (former VHT) makes the best sounding amps I have ever played. Every guitarist should give one a test drive. I won't sell my Mesa, but my Fryette is my fav.

I do that, I run a Kemper into a Mesa simul class 6L6 100watt power amp,, and it is magic. I also have a Mesa preamp, if I want all tube. But the Kemper sounds just as good.

Me, the entire time I am watching: What's that flashing red one? When will it be time to hit that flashing red one? Wonder if it turns on the Bat Signal, or self destructs the whole shooting match? Alas, the moment of truth for the flashing red one never came. At any rate, it was fun to watch Richie noodle around, testing the different sounds. Kinda like being at the eye doc - which one is better? 1, or 2? I bet someday it will all be contained in a little Apple watch type thing on Richie's wrist. Thanks for sharing your expertise with those who can understand it and benefit from it, Richie. And thanks for sharing it with the rest of us, too! 🤣

Sounds great and that's a great preamp! I'd use a physical pedal that can emulate a poweramp in between. I used to use a HX -> Clean Tube preamp pedal (shiftline twin 2) ->Mooer Preamp Live (for poweramp emulation and IR)-> DAW I have videos from about 1 year ago in my channel.

I know this is a old vid but i use my HX effects the same way, Loop one is for my JCM2000 TSL100 & loop two has a GCX Switcher with my ADA MP1 & Marshall JMP1 in loops of the GCX. The GCX also switches what Amp im sending a signal to, My Stereo Marshall 9200, the power amp section of the TSL100 or out a Headphone amp.
@tiagoandrade58262 жыл бұрын
Dude, I have an Ada as well! Straight in the low input of my marshall jcm800 20W. What's the best way to add the HX effects? Im not super smart when we're talking about chains and stuff like that. Can you suggest me a way to do it? My goal is to use marshall power section, clean and distortion of ADA and the modulation of the HX Effects

Thanks Richie! Guys: I'm using a Marshall DSL 40. Maybe it's just a matter of each one preferences, but your suggestion: When using the HX Effects, is it better to use the reverb of my amp or the reverbs that HX offers?
@nicholas196442 жыл бұрын
Hi Juan. How is your experience with the unit into the DSL 40? I also have a DSL but use a gt100 which is too big for my pedal board.
@juanignaciogenovese2 жыл бұрын
@@nicholas19644 Hi Nick, I'll give you my personal opinion. It didn't work very well for me. When talking about modeling effects (reverb, chorus) it worked great, but when comes to distortions I couldn't got what I wanted (meaning '80's, lead guitar solos); but for what I have been reading and watching, I think the best option is to use the HX EFFECTS not straight to the amp (at least with the DSL40c) but with an amp simulator like the Strymon Iridium; or just use the stomp or the LT/Floor that comes with amp modeling. All the Best!

I notice that your lead preset has the EQ and Modulation after the IR while the other presets have the EQ and Modulation between the power amp (effects loop) and IR….. is there a reason for it? Sounds great …… I’m just wondering why……

I use an SS-20 tube pream pedal into an ISP Stealth power amp in my pedal board then into a pair of real guitar cabs with Celestion speakers. Can the Helix Stomp be used as virtual preamp modeler in my rig? Will it sound any good?
@mellotroll3 жыл бұрын
SS-20 - it's a russian vendor AMT?
@Javier-qk7ms3 жыл бұрын
@@mellotroll Yes it is and the AMT has IMHO very nice sounding clean and crunch channels, the crunch has enough gain for hard rock and classic metal rhythms when using a Duncan JB or Distortion pickup in my guitar, but is very open sounding so it has very good string definition for chords and cleans up nicely when rolling back the volume knob. It is good with Strats too. So my question is if the Helix can be used to replace this preamp in pedal format and use the Preamo sections of the different amps included in Helix. No cab sim needed for me as I have real guitar speakers.
