This is a great video. I wonder though, when you were testing your mic was there not a delay from when you spoke to when you heard it back or is that normal for testing.... Thanks again..
@Kauffeebaby3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, excellent question. Both the Rode Wireless Go and the Cable Creation Audio USB adapter have very low latency but they are in serial so do add together. The Rode and USB adapter have latency around 20-30 ms so if you are really looking you might be able to see a bit of delay. This is a simple setup for Zoom, so it's tolerable. If I need higher quality, then I bring in another component into the chain, like OBS software or an ATEM mini switcher there is usually a setting for adjusting the audio delay that you can use to re-sync audio and video, which is important if your audio and video paths are different before they come together at zoom.

Comment s'appelle l'adapteur ? Pourriez-vous placer une référence Amazone, je ne voudrais pas me tromper dans les milliers d'adapteur. Merci pour votre vidéo :)
With the adapter, do you plug it into the microphone outlet or the headphone? Neither work when I'm doing an audio test on zoom which is where I'm trying to use the mic (I have a rode wireless mic as well / MacBook Air). Not sure what the issue is. I see the usb option in zoom but when I test it, no sound (my voice) emits. Any ideas what the issue could be?
@Kauffeebaby3 жыл бұрын
If Zoom can see the USB Audio interface, then the next likely problems are a) making sure the mic is plugged into the mic input, not the headphone output, b) you've selected the usb audio interface as an Input in Zoom, not an output, or c) you've got a trrs plug instead of a trs. If the Rode receiver shows its getting a good level, these are the 3 next things to try.

Thanks for this video.. Do you think it is possible to use it as voice amplifier? Instead of connecting to a pc you contec it to a speaker with 3.5mm?
@Kauffeebaby2 жыл бұрын
These are two different questions Ben. Yes. you can definitely take the "speaker output" of the USB adapter and send it to a powered speaker, which is how we can have a group conversation over zoom, but know that you will not hear your own voice through it. Zoom uses something called a "mix-minus" where you hear everyone else except yourself, which avoids delays and feedback.

Here is a question no one has yet seemed to ask....The wireless go system...Does that get a firmware update prior to connecting it to zoom or is the firmware update and the Rode App only for the wireless go 2 system?
@Kauffeebaby3 жыл бұрын
It looks like there is a firmware update for the Wireless Go 2, but upgrading the firmware is quite separate from using it in production. You can keep using it with the old firmware, or take some time to update it before you use it the next time. It doesn’t force you to update the firmware before you use it.

Thank you for the thorough review. If a team of 2-5 wants to have Zoom call with other colleagues using one laptop in the same meeting room, can you provide multiple Rode transmitters and microphones to those participants?
@orshalom3 жыл бұрын
Zoom only allows you to connect one audio device, so to use multiple microphones of any kind, you will need an audio mixer to combine (and balance) the various microphones into a single source for zoom.

pc's often have separate mic inputs and headphone outputs, marked with green and pink circles usually (pink/red is the mic input). Just plug the wireless receiver into mic input and you probably don't need a usb adapter at all. This tutorial was for the macbooks which don't have separate mic input and headphone output jacks..

Once you hook the rode to the usb and then to the computer with another adapter for C, can you hear someone speaking to you in zoom or is it one way sound?
@Kauffeebaby3 жыл бұрын
Excellent question. The reason to do all this was to get better sound but NOT lose the ability to hear zoom through the computer speakers. The USB adapter has two connectors, one for the microphone and the other for headphones. As long as you only plug the mic into the adapter you can still hear the folks in zoom speaking to you. You also need to set them properly in the Zoom Audio Settings in the lower left corner of the screen beside the Mute button. Good luck Kishanna!

Is there any audio lag when using this device? It seems the last time I tried using a different lavalier mic, the video and audio were way off. Does this solution sync up perfectly (video and audio)?
@Kauffeebaby3 жыл бұрын
that's a great question. Yes this solution has low audio lag - here's why: The Rode Wireless Go has a dedicated radio and is super low latency - you can find it if you watch very carefully, but that suggests it is 20-30 milliseconds. There is also a potential lag in the conversion from audio to usb, and most manufacturers don't specify their device's latency. These single-channel USB converters, like the one pictured here and linked in the doobly-do below, also has low latency and putting the Wireless Go and USB adapter serially like this still makes the latency quite tolerable. You can see the slight latency over zoom at 4:28 in the video.

Zoom avoids feedback by never playing your own audio back to you - that's pretty annoying if you're a performer, but seems to be ok for most casual zoom users.

My microphone doesn’t show up on zoom options even with these adaptors - any ideas?
@Kauffeebaby2 жыл бұрын
oh, that is so frustrating Aimee! I have to agree though - I have 5 or 6 generic white ones that don't work on my macbook(s). In the end I have come to rely on the brand name ones (Cable Creation is my current favourite). You may also need to ensure it's plugged into a usb port on your laptop, not into a usb hub, but there doesn't seem to be a magic formula with the cheaper generic ones - some work, and some don't...

@@Kauffeebaby ok so now I have it working actually however, when I record a zoom meeting with the mic...after downloading the video recording, I cannot hear anything!
@Kauffeebaby2 жыл бұрын
@@aimeecorry9345 You may have to unplug your usb adapter, or go to System Settings and set your Audio Output device to be your speakers, it might be defaulting to the USB device, and if it is selected as your output device, and you don't have headphones plugged into the adapter, then you won't hear anything at all. It can be confusing because the Zoom settings and your System settings can be different, so you have to check each depending what you are doing - recording or playing back.
