Been using this app for years under the name range buddy. Love the Mean Radius Measurement. Using normal group size measurement, you only measure your 2 worst shots...wasting all data besides those 2 datapoints. MR uses all the shots as data, which increases your confidence that the result is repeatable. Another nice feature in this app, when you put the white info box on the screen, it shows the aggregate results for the target. If testing a new powder/bullet combo, although you may find one good group on your target, if the majority of the groups are bad, the aggregate group size will reflect that. I have used that to eliminate powder/bullet combos before wasting too much time on them. If the majority of the target is bad, its unlikely your 1 good group will be repeatable, or unlikely that node will be very forgiving.

It’s definitely a great app. When I measure a picture on a target without a grid, I just use the grease ring of a bullet hole to measure for scale. It’s not a perfect way, but it gives you something to go off of if you forget to add something else of known size.

having used the Bukys tuners on my short range BR rifles since 2010 i have observed some typical patterns when you are far from a sweet spot : left and right diagonals , exagerated vertical and straight horizontal are typical ( when that load was shooting dots before screwing the tuner ) ; triangles with white paper in between each shots is also typical , although now i seldom shoot a third when the first two aren't touching.

I prefer to use the "thumb in picture" method to size my groups while my thumb is covering up the impacts that "don't count". Just kidding, but everybody knows that guy.

Thanks for your effort of making video, to really looks good, but I am struggling to get going. After taking photo I get no green crosshair to measure known grid size, so cannot continue. Any idea what it could be. Regards Larry.

Question on measuring group size. Some say center to center, some say outside to outside, some say inside edge to inside edge. What is the standard?
@FClassJohn3 жыл бұрын
In my circles most use center to center but the reality is that it doesn't matter if you're using this for your own benefit. Just be consistent in how you measure and you'll know if you're improving or not.
@taylorbokshowan57133 жыл бұрын

John: Really enjoy your content. Question: Do you use a Bullet Genie or similar device? Second question: Roughly how many (in terms of percentage) would you estimate of the top 60 F Class Open shooters use one?
@FClassJohn3 жыл бұрын
Yes I do and I don’t think as many as you’d think do.
@RichHodyl3 жыл бұрын
@@FClassJohn Thanks for getting back to me. I have wondered how one sorts with the Genie - sort by OAL then sort within groups using the Genie? Or some other way? Also, I wonder if the Genie can be proven to actually tighten groups more than if it wasn't used (especially after using great brass, great bullets, the best scales for powder, great powder, etc). If it isn't obvious already, I'm toying with the idea of buying one, just hesitating because a year from now I don't want to feel like the Genie is really just a a $1,500 tackle box....thanks again for all the content and comments.
