Hello! Just some bits about this video: 1. Using XOR gates for levers on both sides of the door: Yes that's the main use I have seen for them, but even when this book was made most people used buttons and t-flip flops because it's smaller, simpler and buttons look better. I was interested in hearing what else this book suggested! 2. Sketching out wiring diagrams for real life programming/electrical engineering: That makes a tonne of sense (I used to do it), but it never makes sense for most redstone contraptions, as just building the contraption would likely take less time than painstakingly drawing it.

Jesus Christ is the propitiation for the whole world's sins. They that believeth and are baptized (with the Holy Spirit) shall be saved; but they that believeth not shall be damned. Those led by the Holy Spirit do not abide in wickedness. *God is ONE manifesting himself as THREE;* the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit! Bless him! *For these three are one.* As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God. Anyone who tells you differently is misinformed or a liar. They do not know God, nor led by him. Anyone who *claims* to be a Christian and is against what I am doing, and where I am doing it; the Holy Spirit does not dwell within them, they lack understanding. They know not God, read his word, and their religion is in vain. Do not hear them, they will mislead you, the lost cannot guide the lost.

When you trust in God and cast your cares (worries, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts) upon him, they will be NO MORE! Know that there is power in the name Jesus Christ! His name casts out demons and heals! The world is wicked, evil, and of the devil. I too, was a wicked sinner of the world before I opened my heart to God. I am living proof of God's work and fruitfulness! He is an active God who hears the prayers of his! God's children are set apart (holy) and righteous. The devil is a liar that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy; that includes your relationship with God! Open your heart to God, repent of your sins (he will forgive you), and let him direct your path. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands and purify your heart, lest you walk with the devil and follow him to hell.

In regards to sketching out Redstone contraptions, when I used to live with my Dad I hardly ever got to play video games so while I was at his house I would sketch out complicated Redstone contraptions on graph paper, which I would then take to Mom's house to turn into an actual contraption. The unfortunate thing about this technique was that I had about a 65% success rate with my diagrams, as something usually had an in-game niche that I hadn't accounted for!..

I think the most prevalent use-case I have seen for XOR gates in real life has been multiple light switches for the same light. No matter which switch you're at, flipping it will toggle the light. Sometimes the switch is up when the light is off and down when it's on, but it'll always toggle the light, no matter which you're at.
@J-IFWBR2 жыл бұрын
if i think about this briefly, wouldnt an xor gate fail to do the task here? since if you have the light on at one switch, it can not be turned off at a second switch?, Shouldnt a system that you described be done with One doualedge-Monostable-circuit behind each switch, and all of them running into a flipflop/t-flip that controlls the lightsource? Or am i mistaken here? edit: ah im dumb, i missunderstood how this gate works, mb.

The reason XOR is nice for comparisons is because if the two inputs are the same, there's no output, but if the two inputs are different there is. It's pretty niche for redstone contraptions but a common use is for having two levers in different places that activate a circuit (such as for a light source), since changing either of the levers toggles the output
@grn1 Жыл бұрын

An XOR gate is actually surprisingly useful for rudimentary, lever-controlled doors, since it lets you use two toggle switches (i.e levers) to control one toggle (i.e a door). In physical terms, imagine you have a door in the wall with levers on either side. Using an XOR gate means that toggling either of the levers (on or off) will either open or close the door, depending on if the door was closed or opened already.

Indeed, but I'd say the better solution to that is to control with pulses (i.e. buttons) and send those into a T-flip flop that controls the door. It's a good use for a XOR gate, and it's how some of my lights at home are hooked up. It's just my personal opinion that says this.
@lagxs2 жыл бұрын
I think you would just use Buttons in that case that control a T Flip-Flop. This would also allow for more than two inputs without having to add more complicated redstone

As the person who routinely uses graph paper to map out farms and rooms for my bases, I'd like to say that it's very helpful. Just don't lose the paper, I've got twelve copies of the same exact storage room and I keep finding more.

Blowing up the readstone actually could be an interesting base idea if you could orient everything so you can see different things working in it. Like being inside a computer tower...Or the "13 ghosts" house if it's a lag monster and timing nightmare.

The xor or xnor gate is commonly used to lighting in stairwells irl so that the light is always controllable from both the upstairs and downstairs switch. Which one is used exactly is often of little relevance.

Place I use to work for used them in liquid tanks. 2 temp sensors (one at the top of the tank and one at the bottom) in the tank. They were set to a certain temp and when they exceeded it it turned on the stir cycle. If both came on then we knew the whole tank was up to temp. When up to temp, or both sensors were exposed (such as when the tank was empty) we didn't want the stir cycle to start. Basically used XOR gates with logic latches. Most of the equipment was built in the 70s or 80s, now days everything is just fed into computers.

For the XOR gate, you can make something like 2 light switch. Whenever one of the light switches (lever) position is changed, the light will turn on if it's off or off if it's on. Just like real light switches 😁. Then you can use that in other context 😉

In terms of the mapping out your things with paper or software, as an electrical engineer in a past life, I have to wonder if they meant for building MASSIVE sctructures and contraptions. Things like computers with RAM and displays, or even Tangos system from Decked Out this year could probably beneift from mapping out the busses for the mains.

3:50 I do this occasionally when building redstone, but that's more because I'm an electrical engineering major and electronics are really hard to debug if you don't have it written down somewhere. I imagine the person writing this book has a similar approach and doesn't really understand that minecraft is in its own way, a 3d drawing program AND a compiler/launcher at the same time

@@Vaxedia 🙂 Yeah true,... BUT. Supporting Mumbo for videos I KNOW I will understand could be worth $ to me. When I think of MANY of my repeat attempts following others it's a no-brsiner. My creative world has a number of cool looking RS contraptions I couldn't get working. This was usually 'cuz despite slowing speeds down, taking screen shots, etc.. the "tutorial" vids were often just lousy - too fast, too rambling, views of tems were partially obstructed, not explained well or even at all, etc. 🥴 Verra frustrating. Love the video, Mumbo. This is an interesting twist on your usual content, sort of a back-to-basics with um... Expert perspective. You've done much more complex redstone than this and that's great, and amazing content as well. This type of game has a downside which you mentioned - always getting updated, so books always fall out of date. There's also an upside - there are always new waves of players for such a game, which means this type of video has a timeless place in the community. Feels to me like there's still a lot of room for you to find creative ways to make great content in this space where you've lived for so long. I feel you on the exhaustion you've expressed in always trying to top your previous "best" whatever that means - but what that means is up to you. This type of video, I feel, is a different kind of great in context with your other Minecraft-based work. I encourage your other filmmaking efforts as well. You've developed a lot of skills to make this all possible, and I thank you for all the years you've filmed, edited, and shared your fun with us.
