The ability to articulate and explain techniques in an understanding way is key to teaching. You do this amazingly well. Thank you for freely sharing your abilities and gifts on this platform. Also I would like to add many of these techniques are used in raising all children. The issue that I found with myself is that when I would use the technique without it sticking I would believe it was unsuccessful, not the case. With my little man it is neccesary to continue the technique repeadily over and over and over until he has the ability to retain it. When it reaches a point to become frustrating for him it requires me to back off the expectation. He's teaching me to remain consistent and dilegent without becoming overbearing to the point of frustration. Something I've gotten better with, but still working towards.

You are so right, this may sound ignorant but I took for granted how much effort (simple but purposeful) is needed in raising kids. Thank you for your post.

yes!! ABA was not desgined for children with autism and is helpful for all human beings in many situations including raising typical children! That is so great that you have learned so much from your son.

Don't they become dependent on you asking "What do you want?"? It then becomes an intraverbal not a way to teach spontaneous manding, no?

you can also transfer it by giving expectant looks etc.

This was extremely informative, but you lost me when you started speaking a different language with somebody who knows Aba language I am a mother of a child with autism and I have no idea what you’re talking about so if you could do it down for the rest of us that be great

I understand! Here's a more cohesive list of my resources if you're looking for help: MaryBarbera.com/links-yt. My strategies can be implemented by anyone! No need for extensive knowledge of ABA.
