I have a HONEST question, how do you keep your silk press from reacting to the heat & humidity so It doesn’t just poof up/revert back?? I stray from straightening my hair in the Sumer time cause it’ll do JUST THAT soon after I experience the beautiful results 😭😭

You might have to wrap it up with silk, and avoid doing anything that can make tou sweat at your head. You will def have to be very cautious in the shower too, and maybe avoid letting steam build up in the bathroom

Portia same! I got my first and last silk press in December of 2017. The process destroyed my hair and my style was reverting by the end of the day. I cut my hair off May 2018, now I’ve been loc’d with my second set for 11 months. No issues!

This reminds me of the olden days when we used to straighten our hair with castor oil and metal comb that you heat on top of the stove or primastove 😅🤣😃😂😂

I have that same memory but not from my own experience. When I was about 8 years old after school I’d play at my friend Gina’s house going through the back door through the kitchen. One day I asked why there was a comb on the stove and she explained the process. She showed me her burn marks and I freaked out!!!!

I loved watching this silk press. I used to be a hairdresser back in the day. I do my own hair, including straightening & have a steamer which I use weekly for deep conditioning. I feel like I need a visit to be pampered like this as our lockdown has recently eased off. Sometimes I get fed up of doing my hair myself 👍🏽😂🇬🇧

I don't understand why you new school hair stylist just won't press the edges of your client's hair with a pressing comb. Their hair would look a lot more sleek. But Janay you're very good at what you do. You are very talented. I'm not just criticizing you, all of you new school hair stylist do the same thing. I just don't understand it. @kindnessness well you are putting heat on your hair with the flat iron anyways. So you might as well do it right. I'm not saying press the edges and flat iron it. Besides most hairstylist use more than one pass anyways (except Deeper than hair).

@@thekellyjones821 yes, especially without any heat protectant. If you consistently add heat. If its once a year, its not as damaging as doing it everyday, or once every week. But heat protectant should be applied every time, or your just putting burning metal straight to your hair. Janay did add heat protectant.
