The whole thing was important for me. But, I understand.

You just gave me what I was looking for (the Normal node) to make my instances face the center of an object (chairs around a table). Thanks !

Thanks for sharing. ❤ this tutorial has helped solve a problem I was having for some time now about how to select groups of nodes in geometry nodes.

This is probably the solution I've been looking for for three years!!! I can't wait to try it! ---- A day later--- It is working! -Is there a way to replace the cylinder with a custom model or displacement map? I will investigate. - How does one hook up more than one Vector Group? I want to like this video but I hate to take it off of 420 likes. Sorry everyone. I'm 421

Thank you for the great tutorial. Is it possible to specify the exact vertex group to use within the Geometry Nodes section instead of having a selection option? I'm looking for a way to create a node group that references the exact vertex group without the extra steps of the selection.

Thank you for the video!! I was wondering how can I make the spear appearing also?
@GordonVart Жыл бұрын
You need to add another node called Join Geometry, and feed in the original geometry from the group input into that, and then take the output of Join Geometry and put that into the group output geometry.

You cannot call the vertex Group via a Boolean if you want to use it in another geometric node. Can you ?

I discover Node in blender when over houdini and try to figure out how to do stuff in blender actually back on it has some great potential i am amazed perhaps i give up any houdini learning lol

yeah everything is fine, but try to do with instances. I cannot manipulate the instance's vertex groups this way :(

Hey, thanks a lot for this video! Was wondering how we could "instance on points" for all objects and their respective vertex groups in a collection ?
@GordonVart2 жыл бұрын
It's not possible at this time to my knowledge. Rather than using a collection, I would merge all of the objects into the collection into a single object, and then create the vertex group. Then just use the pattern that I described in the video. It's not ideal, but until they expand what you can access within the geometry nodes I don't see any way that you can achieve this.

Great. Now I have a question: I am applying effects to the vertex group and I have to edit the group to adjust the effect precisely. Do I have to go into the vertex group panel and painfully edit (remove, add and so forth) or is there a way to do it from either the UV map (where the group is made) or inside Geometry nodes?
@GordonVart2 жыл бұрын
I am pretty sure you need to edit it the manual / painful way. I'm not aware of any other way to do so. You basically can select a bunch of vertices and then just assign/remove them from the vertex group. good luck

@@GordonVart Eeeeeks! No way. I am trying to find a way to edit parts of high res models with mathematical equations so the selection must be both easy and versatile. Thanks for the answer though I know I must try another way.

Before recording the video go to blender preferences / interface / display / resolution scale and put it to 2.0 at least. It will be much easier to see things in the screen, just now I don't have a microscope at hand man!
