Yess, I really didn't think that it can be done using a wax crayon!! I have made painting by drawing by wax crayon and then spreading water color over it thousand times in my childhood.. but still couldn't imagine this when I was going to paint foam😅 Thanks for reintroducing this and my childhood 😊

I used to use this technique on Easter eggs. Never thought of it for water color and now I can see so many ways this could be wonderful, like water droplets on leaves. Thank you Maria. This is just wonderful! This could even work for animal whiskers in graphite drawings or that bright spot in the eyes that is so hard to keep white. Wow. I'm getting a crayon now.

So very interesting! I was going to do a cat in watercolor in an upcoming video and I was trying to think of ways to maybe mask in the white whiskers without masking fluid, so I experimented with a white colored pencil before I painted, but it seemed to stay less white the more I worked it. After watching this, I wonder how well a colorless blender colored pencil would work!? Get the fine details you could with a pencil, but still the same wax! Going to have to play with that. Thank you and this is something I tried for the first time back in 2017. That painting is still the same. This is my second time doing it and wax stays, you don't remove it. It sticks to the paper when you rub it in. I haven't noticed any "yellowing"🌼

@mariamorjane5 жыл бұрын
Good morning Sir! thank you so much. Not at all, if you use a clear/white wax, you don't see it on a paper.. unless you examine it really up close you may see tiny tiny bit of wax glued to the paper.. here's what I want to mention, I read in comments people asked if wax would come off afterwards. I just want to say that even if it did.. it doesn't matter, when you are done with your painting - white has been preserved so even if you use some different type of wax that may come off afterwards, again it doesn't matter, white has been preserved successfully and you are done painting ☺️Thank you so much Sir!

Wait a minute.....you do talk? Little jokes aside, this painting turned out GREAT. I'm also using a white crayon here and here to preserve some whites, and i like it a lot since what it does is not so 0, 1. I mean there is a transition between painted area and wax areas, not like masking fluid that leaves a too defined and perfect edge.

@@mariamorjane oh, i guess is a simple white crayon, very similar as the one you are using here. I guess they have oil in it? Not sure about the composition of it.
