This seems pretty subpar considering the Wingman XB adapter allows for any modern Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo controller to wirelessly connect to the Original Xbox without the need to mod the console.

I also agree. I have the X2 and it plays wirelessly. I even bought the one they have for PS2 and it is awesome using a PS3 Controller to wirelessly play on PS2.

ya. I use the Wingman XB (sometimes wireless, but a lot of the time wired) with my PS5 controller and it is super amazing and convenient and near perfect for me. I only wish I coule rebind certain things like the PS5 touchpad to the start button.

Its crazy how far we've come in technology that we can basically now reverse engineer these ancient consoles to have HD, have all games installed or recarted, and use controllers that are 20 years newer. I'll always be greatful for companies like this that work to keep older physical media or hardware alive.

Something tells me that Adam is going to make a full tour of his OG Xbox collection soon and possibly rank his top 10 favorite consoles (I bet the OG Xbox might be in 2nd or at least in the top 5). I mean the OG Xbox was in a lot of ways a spiritual successor to the Dreamcast.

Adam, the Brook Wingman XB does the same thing when used with one of those usb adapters, and no modification is needed. And it supports more controllers, including the Dual Shock 3,4,5. And it’s wireless.

Is it just me getting old, or did gaming used to be a lot more fun back before consoles were just watered-down gaming PCs? The DC, PS2, Xbox & GameCube generation was the peak for me. I still find myself constantly revisiting that era just because it was THAT good.

If I had to guess the Xbox 360 controller isn't really syncing with the Xbox, but rather the mod chip which has some compatible software similar to most PCs, but once you open the Xbox menu it stops working because it's not compatible with it's software and the modchip isnt able to do a handshake to allow it. Would explain why it syncs when you turn it on, and doesn't just light up.

This is cool. I have an OGX360 for my Xbox which I like better because I can connect wireless Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers with no problem using that device

I don’t recommend this for every game. Some Og Xbox games like MGS2 and I think a couple of the Dead or Alive Volleyball games require pressure sensitive buttons and the Xbox One/Series X controllers do not have pressure sensitive buttons.

I actually liked the original S-Type controllers better for having the middle start and select buttons on the left side alongside the bumper triggers with black&white buttons so it had a more tactile feel during intense gameplay, didn’t need to drag my thumb over to access those buttons or cramp up my fingers to start firing a non-automatic weapon in-game. Sounds like quite a downgrade overall imho, especially considering that you need to have a modded console flashed with a custom BIOS to use it and in its current state doesn’t support 360 controllers for that matter

I love the s controller. Definitely my favourite of the generation. My favourite controller now is the elite series 2

I know this is probably a controversial opinion. But I think the Xbox 360 pad is the best that Microsoft has ever created. And still to this day I'd rather use the 360 pad. Even the ones that Hyperkin re released which I bought all of the available colours they had. I wouldn't use it competitively for obvious reasons but I use it for basically all of my gaming now.

No I couldn't agree more. I actually enjoy the games more when I play on the 360 controller. I streamed my One X to my PC just to still use the 360 Controller. That new Hyperkin one couldn't capture the magic unfortunately.

@@guy1ncognit0 I know it's not as good as the original but it's close enough to make me abandon the Xbox One and Series controllers. That's how legendary the 360 design was to beat 2 console generations of controller evolution.

I also notice that the Hyperkin xenon (360 controller) also does the same thing. Once it hits the XBMC4Gamers screen. It shuts off. I usually have to unplug the brook adapter and plug it back in to play games.

Growing up, I never had the chance to own an OG Xbox. After watching your Xbox retrospective/recap a few years back (and then watching the rest of your console retrospectives/recaps for every generation!), I picked one up, and I’m so glad I did! On a totally unrelated note, would you ever do an Xbox 360 cleaning video? I know you used to do them, and I’d love to see your process for it.

@@AdamKoralik Microsoft sells a black thumb drive lookin adapter for connection the newer controllers to pc that dont have built in blue tooth support. U could plugging that into the usb to xbox cable then syncing a controller to it

You know what StellarOS needs? A *Don Mattrick* option where if you turn it on, your OG XBox gets bricked because all the games you use require always-online DRM but the servers that checks for the DRM never existed; and you need to have the Kinect but since the OG XBox never had a port for it and since Stellar's "Additional Input Driver" never had an option to include the Kinect, you can't even restore the option back!

I remember the first time I modded I cut the cable on an old madcat controller piece and wire the female end onto the cable. It was able to use small usb drives as storage/memory. That's how you delivered the payload with.. Splintercell? I think it was.

If you get a brooke adapter you can use the Wireless 360 USB adapter and use your wireless 360 controllers, but i definitely see them adding 260 support here too as it's 100% possible.

I got a USB to OG Xbox cable from Amazon plugged in my Brook Wingman XB with the latest firmware and plugged into it and then Plugged in my PS5 controller in both and I'm playing games on my stock unmodified OG Xbox with a PS5 controller.

Hey Adam will use the Stellar mode make the video quality on a 2004 model Xbox look as good as a early model Xbox? I know you've done videos talking about how the 03-04 models don't put out good quality picture in past videos.

The Stellar modchip doesn't do much in that department, you'd need the HD+ HDMI mod. Which is made in conjunction with it.
