*ISxP* (06:04) Ti-Ni/Fi-Ni loop. 6th function is Si. In the loop they create an inner fantasy about the world and avoid action and responsibility 10:20 Si: 1)reflects on the past experiences and what it meant for you 2)standards, responsibilities 11:00 how to get to a place of responsibility 11:48 *HACK* : -take a look at some souvenirs/totems from your past, try to remember where that came from, talk to someone who shares the memory -go to a familiar place -listen to music of your past... 13:15 when we get into our 6th function, our brain wants to kick it to the 2nd function which is more natural to us. 15:00 2 levels: 1)short term hack of getting into the 6th function 2)longer term: process the past experiences/feelings so that you don't keep avoiding the reality now 18:08 the wisdom of Si is acceptance 20:13 why we resist the 6th and 2nd functions *ESxJ* (22:20) Te-Ne/Fe-Ne loop. 6th function is Ne. Overrelying on Ne. Enforcing the world to be the way you want it to be. Ne is about expansion, excitement, it brings other people into your reality/fantasy. But it can come with anxiety and stress. For ESxJ their Ne may catastrophize possibilities. So ESxJ become frenetic trying to avoid negative scenarios that their Ne is insinuating. 25:45 two examples 27:29 what breaking the loop looks like for ESxJ Also 36:20 32:50 *HACK* 1)short term 5-4-3-2-1 method. Take a look at your environment and write down: -5 things you can see -4 things you can touch -3 things you can hear -2 things you can smell -1 thing you can taste 2)long term : record, take notes...

This can be quite the task, especially for someone like me whose Si Critic is extremely vulgar and condescending. A representation of how I was treated as a child. It's one of the reasons I've been trying to find some method to establish a connection between cognitive functions and trauma, how trauma impacts those functions. I'm an ISFP, there is no more doubt in my mind about that. Even my shadow functions line up and behave in a fairly similar fashion. But that means that Si critic, my 6th function, is dysfunctional to say the least. With a boatload of trauma to back it up. You know, it's that inner monologue, that voice inside that says "you're a screw up! You've always been a screw up! You'll never be anything other than a screw up!" Add a generous amount of vulgarity to that and you've got my Si Critic. Granted, now I'm finally starting to understand. Now I'm finally making steps forward and I'm so low in life, my starting point was just brushing my teeth on a regular basis. Because I neglected my body on every level throughout the vast majority of my life. Severe depression served to that end. Yet, I find my answer is still the same as anyone else's. I still have to focus on what my duty is, my responsibility to myself and to others. I'm almost 40 years old and I'm just now learning these lessons the hard way. I managed to skate through life, always seemingly landing on my feet. If C.S. Joseph is right, I can chalk that up to good ol' Ni Child. I wonder if y'all ever read your comments? Oh well. Perhaps another ISFP will find this comment and see a resemblance in their own life. It's a hard truth I've come to know very profoundly. There comes a point where it no longer matters how much you think about it, how much you study it, how much it hurts inside, how much regret you carry. None of it matters once you get to that focal point because there is only one way out. There's no round about way, there's no dodging it, there's no escaping it and sure, you can put it off for as long as you like but sooner or later, you're going to have to face it head on. Get up and go do, act. Your life isn't what you want it to be? Do something about it. You're not happy in whatever circumstance in your life? Do something about it. You don't feel like you've accomplished anything or that you either have no purpose or have lost your purpose? Do something about it. You can research it, study it, think about it, make lists, set goals, all these things but if you never manage to actually DO something about it, nothing will ever change. That's the hardest pill I've had to swallow.

I wish I had discovered my mistype last year. This is exactly the advice I need. I’ve been hanging on to my fantasy world positive that I’m an intuitive. I’ll be tacking this advice up everywhere. ACT NOW

5-4-3-2-1 What a suggestion! Thanks. Although I am INxP, I can completely understand the necessity & importance of not staying stuck in loop & going past my aux function & not getting "fixated" (a word used about me for others). I like the way Joel rephrases Antonia's accurate explanation in a easy to understand or simple language - almost in every podcast of yours I have heard! Thanks again for the insights!

The shadow function are the left hand functions. We're using them all the time. If not intuitives would crash their cars every day and sensors would not be aware of what they are doing the next day.

I am an ISTP female and I am in my demon mode. How do I stop feeling like a failure when I stop caring about the reality of the situation?

I don't know if this will still be of any relevance to you but when you go Fi Demon and it's all about how you feel and no one else's feelings matter until you feel justice has been served, one thing you can do is use your Fe inferior to call that demon back. It's a matter of conscious decision, recognition of how you're hurting others by imposing your morals, your standards on everyone else and how that is impacting them. Just look at them, how do they look? Are they scared of you? Are they resentful of you? What expressions can you see on their faces? So you're using Se parent to observe the physical nature of their faces and Fe inferior to recognize what those faces mean. Like a scornful face or a scowl, like they're looking at you with contempt. Or a drooping face or tears, like they're looking at you with fear.
