you have to realize that you are an adult now and have your own life to live and your own career to make. after joining i moved away from home in Michigan to California. i have my own family and my life to live. dont get me wrong, i still visit my family back in Michigan but most of them are hateful of me for being transgender. thats ok though because i have my new family here in California.
@jalennelson65997 жыл бұрын
TGIRL Davina How long did you move away? I leave for Paris Island in 26 days. I am 25 and have lived on my own for 4 years now. When I get out in 4 years, I am not coming back to my state (Connecticut) I plan on moving somewhere nice and warm all year.
@tboy2217 жыл бұрын
Jalen Nelson well, when i was on active duty in the Marines i decided to stay in. the pay was good and the VA homeloan thing helped me buy my home. im from Michigan also a snowy state and i moved to southern California where its mostly warm all year. it gets chilly in the winter time but a hoodie or fleece sweatshirt works just fine. you shouldnt plan on getting out in 4 years. wait until a year before end of your contract before you decide. (you never know, you might like it) i did. the military pays you extra for being married and living off base, which basically covered my mortgage and other bills.
@tboy2217 жыл бұрын
Jalen Nelson i actually moved out of my parents house when i was like 22. i tried to save up money in order to get an apartment but i found myself in deadend jobs going nowhere. my friends were in the Marines and i decided to go that route and it was the best decision i ever made. because of it i was able to purchase my own home, move out of my parents house and be on my own.i now have my own family in southern California,

In 1988, I had to take that same walk through Detroit Metro. Now I'm about to witness my Son doing the same in Dallas, who leaves for MCRD-SDiego come June. No matter how hard you try preparing for that day, the Mother supercedes the Marine. At that very moment, we watch you go from our little boys to young Men...Marines, at that. Continued success to you, and SEMPER FI!

I enlisted into the Marine Corps 15 years ago at the same MEPS Station in Detroit, Michigan right after I graduated high school. July 17, 2006: the beginning of a journey from being a boy to becoming a man. Started out as an E-1 private in the Marines, now a First Lieutenant in the Army. Joining the military was the best decision I ever made and has been rewarding in every way possible!
@BudgetGainsByJJ2 жыл бұрын
Cool, I'm thinking of joining the marines or navy. As a greencard recruit, do you have any recommendations on which branch to join?
@BGfrom_MI2 жыл бұрын
@@BudgetGainsByJJ Depends on what you want out of your military career and what you're seeking in life. If you want a challenge, adventure, brotherhood, and to be better than the rest, Marine Corps is the way to go. If you want to see the world, get an education, and retain some civilian aspects of yourself, Navy would be a better choice. Good luck to you no matter what choice you make!
@BudgetGainsByJJ2 жыл бұрын
@@BGfrom_MI I seek brotherhood more than anything. Only thing that has me thinking to not do marine corps is everyone telling me that you can have psychological problems after the constant mental torment (this is coming from people which haven't been marines) ... I'm also 28, Idk if that's too old or not for such a branch like marine corps. But thanks for your advice man
@goonie199512 жыл бұрын
If you're not in the best shape (like me and im joing the corps.) start working out now. The biggest thing though is the mental challenge. Don't ever tell yourself you can't do it. Keep telling yourself that YOU CAN DO IT! Almost anyone can do this, it just takes the mentality to make it.

I'm going into the Marine Corps, and I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for this opportunity, Jesus is who I'm doing it for and he deserves all the glory, honor, and praise, I know he'll give me strength, I will make it through bootcamp not by my own strength but by the power of the holy spirit living inside of me✝️🛐🙏

We didn't have anything like this when I left for boot camp back in '85. My recruiter picked me up at my house and unceremoniously dumped us off at the MEP center. While we waited to be sworn in, we were in a room with about 50-60 other people (mixed branches) waiting to be given orders before being shuttled off to the airport. There was a Sgt (Marine) who spent a few minutes giving everyone a quick overview of what to expect at their respective USAF, Navy, and Army boot camps. When he finally got to talking about Parris Island, he said "Who are my Marines?". Only 3 of us raised our hands. He only smiled and said "You are going to have 13 fun filled weeks on the Island. Do your best. Enjoy". And that's all he said. We were like "WTF?". All the other recruits looked at us like we were dead. I look back now and can see how funny that moment was.
