Thank you so much for this video. Kindly make a video talking about the pros and cons of going either to the uk or us in terms of cultural differences, mental health, and feeling welcomed.

The choice between USMLE and PLAB depends on your career goals. If you aim to practice medicine in the United States, go for USMLE. For the UK, opt for PLAB. Additionally, PLAB training courses with MedMoveUK can enhance your preparation and increase your chances of success in the PLAB exams.

The grass is always greener over there. It has a while since I took them. You need USMLE 1and 2 CK, plus TOEFL to get an ECFMG certificate so you can go to internship and residency in US. As far as I know, every IMG has to take internship in US. The minimum amount of years to become attending is 4 years after medical school, FP may be 3 years only. After residency, you need to do USMLE 3 to get your permanent ECFMG certificate and licensure. US internship and residency do not pay OT, so the pay is on par and definitely not $68k. I believe it is 40-50k range.

no the average pay is probably correct. some places pay more based on cost of living in that area. of course she quoted pays before taxes. i also think 100 hours is not correct as quoted unless the program is violating abim regulations. the average hours range from like 60-80. point is each place has pros and cons.

Very informative ! As at currently they have stopped taking The Usmle's in any format now you must take Step 1 before step 2 and as from next year 2022 it's now a pass/fail . I'm a medical student an IMG and I don't even know how I feel anymore cos as a Nigerian I've heard its very difficult to get matched especially when your not a citizen this is a major problem on t's own after paying plenty tuition fees and studying for this exams that's why I think a lot of pple are running towards the Plabs ...sigh life is difficult lol .
@DoctorNosa3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this updated information! Interesting you have to take USMLE step 1 before step 2 now! I was aware of the pass/fail and it can be a slight disadvantage to IMG’s because people used to try and score very high to increase their chances of getting matched. It’s hard to match in the US vs the U.K. where you’re almost guaranteed a job but it’s possible in the US! I know life can be tough! Sorry, this will pass! 🙏🙏🙏

Hello Dr Nosa, How are you? Thank you for the information. Really grateful! :) Could you please let us know if the PLAB1 format has changed for 2022? 2nd question: You mentioned that you can only get a F1 job with the provisional license: what is a F1 job? Thank you

Good Evening, Dr please if you're a specialist in Ghana, do u still start from being a junior doctor in UK?? Kindly help me with the process.

Since you attended a Caribbean medical school and the curriculum is modelled after US medical school. Did you get to take it as well. Also, why did you choose to practice in the UK instead of the USA since you attended a Caribbean medical school and most likely had taken the STEPs

Thanks Dr. For the info however I think you should be comparing USMLE and MRCP ( cos they both train you to become consultants) not USMLE and plab, cos for plab you are only working as a GP.
@DoctorNosa3 жыл бұрын
You’re welcome but the information you have is very false though about PLAB meaning you can only work as a GP. PLAB is for all specialties. GP’s still have to take the MRSA exam to enter GP training after PLAB, internal medics take MRCP before entry into internal medicine training (or some people do it during internal medicine training). Taking PLAB just allows you work as a doctor in the U.K. until you decide what specialty you want to go into then you take the relevant exams and apply for that.

Pls l'll like to get the validity period between IELTS and plab2. Is it that you must pass plab2 within 2 years of writing IELTS or you must pass Plab 1 within those 2 years then another 2 years for plab 2?

@DoctorNosa3 жыл бұрын
There’s no simple answer to this, some people get one immediately, some wait a few months, it depends on how proactive you are and how quick the trusts are in getting back to you 😃
