And not once did the Navy give any acknowledgement of this development of nuclear power to where it belongs, Admiral Hyman G. Rickover. Just goes to show how the Navy did not like Admiral Rickover.

They give Rickover his due starting at 04:38. You're right though; the Navy certainly didn't like Rickover.

Rickover converted the Enterprise to nuclear power and always visited whenever possible. Having served on board that boat, I saw him a lot, attended briefings he directed and came away smarter than when I entered the room. And I was an aviator.

And rightfully so. He was a SOB and arrogant as eff. Its his legacy. Good at what he did, but marred by his arrogance. Power went to his head. @@Rod_Knee

Admiral Hyman G. Rickover was a total pain in the ass. And a singular leader.

Let me guess (on both counts); he was a perfectionist.

He was also a genius. He demanded genius of others as well .... and most couldn't measure up.

@@lieferic9 Nope, David. Sorry. - I am an old navy nuke, otherwise completely talentless who really has an appreciation for Bill Watterson.

Surround yourself with good people and even you can be a star. But that doesn't mean you can be an "a hole" while you reach that level. Rickover was a SOB and anyone who knew him would say so. Kinda sux that his legacy is marred by his arrogance. He never learned humility and power went to his head.
