No doubt Ben is the rising star of US men's tennis. Other guys are getting old. Still, there's work to be done & a small window in which to make meaningful growth. If he doesn't capitalize & improve soon, then hasBen will be eclipsed & we'll move on to someone who will. Shelton never intended to win this match. It was about throwing Tiafoe a bone, because if Ben had decided to beat him 2x at USO on AA and go up 3-0 in their h2h, Tiafoe wouldn't have recovered. Shelton should've been ruthless. HUGE mistake.

Shelton has a lot of potential he is a future tennis star . For this match he ran out of the gas he didn’t manage his energy well

Poor strategy is what did Shelton in. Attritional baseline tennis was NEVER the right play nor is it even his brand of tennis. He never intended to win which is why he wasn't that down about it in the interview.
