Thank you for sharing this! I have emailed the link for this video to my father who served as am engineer on the USS Crevalle and was aboard during the rescue mission featured in this film. I believe he served on the submarine her entire commission life. Wyman is his 90s, healthy, active and has excellent memory and narrative capabilities. If you would ever like to talk to a WW II submariner, or know of someone that would like to talk to my father as a source, he be would be a wonderful resource, and I know he would enjoy it. I am so thrilled to have seen this....thank you again!

I believe that this submarine has a unique opportunity to prove that the Cavalli has a job to do so! And she has to do it. And she did! And showed it.

Anthony Caruso, who played Mazzone, guess starred in a Star Trek episode called "A Piece of the Action." One of many Silent Service actors to go on to play in Star Trek.

The USS Crevalli was most busy - 3 stories involving her! And again echoes of ' Operation Petticoat' Including an expectant mother!

Monica - If you haven't already seen it, there is a website called criticalpast.com that has video of the Crevalle and a lot of its crew members. Your grandfather may be in one of the videos. There is no sound but it was kind of overwhelming to see my grandpa (he died about 30 years ago).

I thought the guy taking care of the pregnant Lady was the brother in Two and a Half men.

only four fathers boarded Crevalle that Thursday evening. Three-Ricardo Macasa, Paul Lindholm, and George Ossorio-did not intend to leave Negros. Macasa was not an American citizen. Even though he had lived in the States for seventeen years, he had never applied for citizenship. Lindholm and his family had talked about his staying behind for weeks, but only at this moment, on the deck of the submarine, had he finally made up his mind. He helped his children below, giving each a quick peck on tearstreaked cheeks. Then he bade his wife farewell. Their parting was brief, hardly tender. In her heart Clara had known he would stay, but to hear his words just now, to realize she alone would have to care for her family for the duration of the war, still came as a shock. In disbelief, Clara Lindholm descended into the boat, hearing her husband say to Bill Ruhe, “I think I’ll stay up here for a little while.”

Who played the baby in this episode? He had a speaking role in this film. I didn't see his name in the credits.

How did the pregnant woman fit through the top hatch? Not trying to be rude or anything but I recall those openings as being kinda small and difficult to get through even for kids.

I doubt that there was a pregnant Filipina rescued. No Filipinos were rescued only American families were rescued by the Crevalle.

Those who have not served might not understand how dangerous it can be to go around flipping switches and turning valves on a submarine or any ship can be to the entire crew. Getting that kid under control was a major importance. The captain seems to have taken the proper tactic but a seat warming would not have been out of the question considering the seriousness.
