Beautifully shot video. Things seem remarkably informal in the modern Navy, but I guess it's got to be that way...

Great video! Trying to recall if we ever did unreps at night way back when, circa early to mid 80s.

We did them every 3 nights on our Med cruise. USS America (CV 66). Came alongside the USS Cannesteo (AO 99).

We often did them at night on the PYRO back in the 80s. Never had white lights on though.

I have never understood why some people would THUMBS DOWN any video on our US NAVY - - unless they just plain do not like our US NAVY . . For those of you who have never been to sea the TANKER/FREIGHTER will maintain a constant course and speed and flying the BALL-DIAMOND-BALL signal on the mast that is the International signal meaning RESTRICTED OR UNABLE TO MANEUVER....While significantly longer and taller the aircraft carrier is still far more maneuverable than the tanker/freighter . . once the supply lines are passed between the two ships the carrier will also fly the same signal. We often had a destroyer or frigate on the other side of the tanker refueling/resupplying at the same time. Sometimes we would even pass a person across between ships in case of a medical emergency or other special need. By the way the aircraft carriers are all nuclear now so the only FUEL they are transferring is JP FUEL which is the fuel needed for the JET AIRCRAFT . . . There are also occasions where the CARRIER is the supply ship and a Destroyer or Frigate will come alongside to get supplies or fuel . .. . . . and when all this occurs during rough seas the experience is quite an awesome sight . . . .

Wow! I actually didn't expect to find that it was the carrier making the maneuvers! I do feel silly that I was stuck wondering what it was that they were piping over. Of course I knew that the Gerald R. Ford was nuclear, but I completely discounted the aircraft on board. So why is the freighter 'restricted' is it simply the fact that it's so small and has a massive, fluid load on board, sloshing around in the seas?

The dislikes are foreign haters and American liberals who would rather see us spend the naval budget on bird-chopping windmills and composting toilets.

*Fuel* replenishment? Thought it ran on an A1B nuclear reactor and had no diesel or otherwise gas propulsion means.

This is what you can afford with 4.3% military budget. In Italy it is 1.4%. I think the new italian conservative government should rise it up and make Italy powerful and respected in the Mediterranean again.
