Roughly 10-15 years ago, I had the amazing privilege of meeting a sailor from the Sailfish. At the time, he was only 1 of the 4 remaining survivors. He told me stories like the ones in this video first hand. They were amazing. I was in HVAC at the time and met many WW2 vets over the years living in retirement communities. They were some amazing men and I was honored to have met them. I would say one in particular became a friend who asked for me only when calling for service. I actually got to say goodbye to him when they brought him home from the hospital for his last days. God Bless them ALL.

💯🤔 it's a shame Americans don't appreciate our elderly veterans as much as they should

I recently saw a video covering the first part of the Squalus story, where it was rescued. It was very interesting as to how they deployed equipment and personnel to set up and use the diving bell.

The Conning tower of the Squailus/Sailfish stands in square in the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine where she was built as a monument to the brave sailors & shipyard personnel that perished when it went down off the coast of New Hampshire.
