I like this one. I would put a smaller bed and there would be room for a table and chair in front of the window. The tile in the toilet room is nice. It looks like someone has put some good planning into those units, with plenty of built in storage options. I think that might make it worth the rent. What a lovely area. The loft bed (basically a top-bunk) from another video where I was thinking of a murphy bed would be a good idea, then, as in that video, you can put the desk under the bed. All of these apartments seem to have an underfloor pantry for the kitchen. My only question is: what is the underfloor space in the rest of the apartment being used for?

A bunk bed over a desk would fit perfectly! (You’ve shown that setup before.) Although your focus is micro apts, your scenes of flowers, restaurants and neighborhoods are a nice touch. Perhaps you could do more of that.

I love it every time when Using asked "how should we arrange the furniture?". 😄 For this micro-apartment, definitely, put the bed by the wall on the side of the toilet. That wall measures 2.3 meters in length. That is long enough for a bed, which is usually 2-meter-long. The other wall - where the window is - measures 2.7 meters in length. That length includes the width of the closet. Excluding the width of the closet, that wall is about 2.3 meters as well. A twin bed is about 80-90 cm wide. After you've put a twin size bed by the other wall, there will still be 145 cm empty space along the window wall. You can place your workstation, i.e., a computer desk and a chair, by the window. If you get a compact computer desk, it won't take up the whole space, and there will still be space for you to open the doors of the closet. As for the TV, there is no suitable place to put a TV stand - even a small one. So, I think you will have to mount it on the wall outside the toilet - the wall at the end of the bed if you adopt the furniture arrangement above. You can watch TV either sitting or lying in bed. 😄 As for the refrigerator and washing machine, it is clear where to put them. Refrigerator: by the kitchenette; washer: at the designated place for washing machine. I think this apartment is decent. The rent - less than $500 USD - is reasonable. I like it that toilet and bathroom are in separate spaces. Thanks for sharing!

Good points about the details, I just have one suggestion, find a small sofa bed that is dual purpose some small sleek tables that tuck under the bottom of sofa you can use for having a meal or laptop use. Ikea is one place to look for small space saving furniture and other items This is a vey nice tiny space that has everything one person needs and the price is amazing.

The wash basin by the front door is a little odd, but I'm not mad at it. Shoe storage with adjustable shelves is nice. Love the the tile in the toilet room. So much storage space! Get a mini fridge and put counter on it and you have prep space. Not my favorite, but I think this is a workable space. 8 out of 10.

In the kitchenette I would do a small fridge and the top of it could be a counter space for chopping and prep work. And above that you could fit another cupboard for more storage even.

I see a lot of people have started suggesting Murphy beds particularly ones which have desks when closed. My first reaction was “Those are expensive!” But then, I did a search and I see there are now clever designed Murphy beds made with less expensive materials that cost much less than the ones I noticed years ago. They are even more affordable if you are somewhat handy and can assemble them yourself. So I think Murphy beds would be ideal for a lot of these micro apartments including this one.

I usually prefer a rectangular shape apartment, but I actually like this one a lot. It's very well planned, all the space is used well, and I like that it has windows on two sides so there's lots of light. The rent is also reasonable. What surprised me is the toilet floor tile, because that exact same tile is so popular here in Iceland! When we renovated our bathroom we considered this same tile (but in the end decided to use a different, blue pattern). Bonus points for the apartment being on first floor, which I think is ideal.

I really like this one. I would put in a custom built raised bed with extra storage underneath, along the toilet wall. Perhaps put up a short dividing wall between the headboard and toilet wall to come out 1.5 feet. On this wall, I would build a prop up table. Even if it is 2.5 feet in length it will be plenty of room to eat and work at. There could be a comfy chair for daily use and a few fold up chairs for guests. Since window slides this wall can also be constructed there if preferred. I don't have that many shoes. Some of that space would be for my food. That would also be a plus for the table at that end of bed as it can be used for food prep, too. Love the flooring. You found a very nice micro apartment for us to ponder on. So many beautiful parks in Tokyo. Thank you for taking us on your tours.

I enjoy seeing the flowers and the restaurant where you ate, thank you for reminding me to make hamburger steak one night this week. I am happy with this micro apartment, you can see that real thought was put into the layout, it is bright and lets abundant sunlight in though the windows are frosted for increased privacy on the first floor. The extra square footage is carefully allocated, there is space for a shoe cupboard, a vanity sink with storage cabinet below, space for the washing machine with a cupboard above, a kitchenette with storage cabinets above and below, space for a normal size refrigerator with room on top for a microwave, air fryer or other small appliance and there is even a clothes closet. The shower room and toilet area are both small, but separate, I like that there is a washlet atop the toilet, but most importantly there are storage shelves in the toilet room😁. The apartment is very livable, has thoughtful storage, but it will be difficult to fit a bed and desk into the living area. I think a loft bed would be ideal for the space. Alternatively, I would consider a loveseat size couch that pulls out into a bed, I think that this would allow space for a narrow table/desk and folding chair that could be set aside at bedtime.

Usui, I LOVE IT! I would put the refrigerator in that space, but I have to find the plugs. I would put a day bed in the living room. A day bed is also a regular bed. Then, on the wall that is the bathroom, I would put a small to medium entertainment center. I figured out how to get an armchair in there. It is COZY! I even like the walk from outside and the flooring modern, but yet aged.

When I first saw the pictures, I was skeptical as I thought this apartment looks way too small. But after watching the video, I think this is actually my favorite micro apartment you've shown so far! I would definitely live here if I lived in Japan and could afford the rent (not sure how much the average Japanese salary is)

I really like this one! Narrow shoe storage is very tall so can store other things too (or more shoes). Basin beside the entry door is handy because I always wash my hands as soon as I get home. It has a lot of cupboards and storage - so less visible clutter in the rooms - only thing missing is a dish-dry rack above the sink (cheap to install a small one) I even like the floors; toilet room tile, kitchen/big room plank-look, entry tile. Would buy a small drop-down wall mount desk from an online store and install on the back of the toilet door across from the stove.

It calls for an IKEA loft bed with desk integrated. Anything else and there is no space left to place a table or desk with chair and bed. Or you use folding chair, folding table and folding bed, but where to store the cushions and bedding.

Ich mag das Microappartement. Es ist schön hell und der Platz ist auch ausreichend. Das Waschbecken neben der Eingangstüre ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber damit könnte ich klar kommen. 😊 Ich würde ein Schlafsofa mit einem Tisch, statt eines Bettes aufstellen. Ich denke es könnte sehr gemütlich werden.

Hi Usui! It’s a nice micro with a lot of storage. Love the toilet area floor tiles. The living room is small but a futon or folding bed and a folding desk can do it well there. The food looks so good 😋. It’s almost 10:00 pm here and I’m hungry now 😁. Until the next 😊.

Interesting, nice finish, plenty of storage space. Not very comfortable entrance hall, living room with some organisational changes is livable, toilet has a beautiful floor. The park nearby makes all the difference .

I quite like this one. Having the sink and washer right at the entrance would actually work well for me. First thing I want to do when I get home is remove outside contaminated clothes and wash my hands. That's perfect. Tons of storage.

I'd have a narrower single bed, I'd have a shorter fridge and put a microwave on top. The window may be frosted, but I'd still have a curtain! I could live in this unit with reasonable comfort.

I could absolutely make this work. I would need some sort of desk by the window that either slides under the bed and can be pulled out for use.... OR a long desk that goes over the bed to extend the hard surface. Storage under the bed. Storage under a fridge (also raises the fridge up). And storage above the fridge & washing machine. I prefer a kettle and air fryer over a microwave for extra appliances. And of course, ALL THE TOILET PAPER!

Perhaps I will have a murphy bed with a desk attached to it - when you pull it down the desk remains parallel to the floor, so no need to remove the stuff on the desk. I am sure you saw something like that. Or perhaps the loft bed with the desk underneath - that may work pretty well with added storage under the bed.

Nice apartment! It's only oddity for me would be the sink as you come in the door. You have the hookups for the washer next to it. The sink seems a waste of space or is it necessary? Does Japan have sleeper chairs? A chair folds out to a single bed kind of like a small futon. It could work in that space I think, otherwise the sleeping bag makes sense. I like that it's ground floor and close to a park and good eating spots. Your meal looked good! Thank you for showing us around the pretty neighborhood!

Not bad. I generally like the layout of this one. Definately need to go with a futon/folding or rollup bed in this apartment so you can fit a desk for working at. Do the 2nd floor apartments also have frosted glass? If not, I'd rather look to the 2nd floor to get a clear outside view.

I think a king single would fit better in that space, I assume it was a queen size shown. That 300mm gap at the end of the bed is a pretty standard size for a pullout pantry, maybe there's a way to use that space.

This one is actually set up nicely. I think someone single could be comfortable here. The only things I would change are the top half of the shoe storage would be hanging space for coats and jackets. And I would have made the closet an open closet. Even the door was folding for the closet, in such a small space it felt intrusive. So are micro apartments only for single people are do they also make them with couples in mind?

Usui-San, this is a very nice apartment at a good price. Having the sink and mirror right when you walk in is a bit strange but the rest of the apartment is well laid out. You could get a bunk bed so you would have space for a desk and chair underneath. If you were ever to move this would be a good choice. I liked the scenes of the flowers and parks. Tokyo is very beautiful in the late Spring/Early Summer, and lunch looked delicious! Keep bringing us more chapters from your study!

I barely got into seeing when you were actually showing the apartment after the introduction in your video, and I almost immediately thought now, because while it looks nice and there are nice amenities to it, the bedroom/living room area has got to be one of the smallest I feel you’ve looked at in the number of videos I’ve seen And you share your bedroom and the closet, with other things in the area and again it’s one of the smallest spaces I’ve seen yet. I could be wrong because I’ve only lived in my state and don’t regularly visit or I’ve been to any other states for any other reason but I don’t think unless you live in a mini home out here in this country of the USA, we don’t have micro apartments, like you do out there, so if you ever get down on a micro apartment and you finally choose your new one, you need a bedroom/living room space that is wide enough to give your mind some mentally healthy space as a part of it.

I like this one. I think the white plank flooring is nice in a micro. I’m not sure it needs two sinks particularly since the toilet has one of those attached washers basins though I guess it’s nice to keep tooth brushing and face washing separate from kitchenette maybe. It has a space for a pretty big refrigerator; but I’d select one that was about the height of the kitchenette and then put a microwave on top of it. I was thinking a lofted bed with a desk and chair underneath; but another commenter suggested that a twin sized bed would leave enough space for a small desk and chair. I would have liked to see if you tried a twin sized bed there to get a better visual of how much room there is with one. I know you seem to prefer a full size; but I personally think a twin is preferable for a single person if space is limited. I think I might still have a lofted twin size if I had to live in this apt. But in general, this is one of the nicer micro apts you’ve featured.

It is a very nice apartment ! What I like best : storage. Storage everywhere. One can own more than two pairs of shoes and two costumes and 100 toiler paper rolls 😜and still feel the place is tidy. It is also very bright. What could have been better : I dont't really get how washing machines are built and plugged in Japan, and so I feel there is space lost with these. With the european system I know, a washing machine and a small fridge could be stacked in a special cabinet. It would make space for a closet in the entrance, between the shoe cabinet and the basin ( that would have been displaced to the left ). Then there would be no closed the living space and then one could place a desk and shelves. But it's already very nice the way it is, and the price seems to be decent.
