Hello! I was hoping for some insight and your videos were incredibly helpful, and I thank you for that. Recently, I attended a campus tour and was told that class rank was your biggest concern at UT. This worried me greatly since my class rank is not the best. I am number 37 in a senior class of 110 at an incredibly competitive early college high school. I have a lot of great things to include on my resume, such as an internship, a job, an associate's degree and a large amount of volunteer hours. I was hoping that these things would be more important, but from what I've heard, they may not be. Thank you in advance! I really appreciate all that you do.

I switched schools every year due to my dads occupation. for my senior year i stayed at the same school that i was a junior at. junior year i cane to the scool in the middle of second semester and was unabke to join any clubs. however this year i have three officer positions and am really involved. is it bad that i cranked up the involvement this year?

I'm in the top 25 % and I'm a junior , so if i work on increasing my GPA would there be a good chance of getting in ? and what do you think is a reasonable score on the ACT for someone in my position.

Hey! I have a question about grad school admissions. So when I first started college, I wasn’t mature enough and had poor study habits. Over 5 years on and off in community college, I accrued a poor gpa of 2.35 with many failing grades. Since then, over the past few years, I’ve retaken many of my community college grades, gained admission to UTD as a CS major, and have a 3.9 here (I believe a 3.6 including my CC grades). I’ve also been a member of a debate club for about 3 years, which I’m extremely passionate about, though I don’t believe that’s very pertinent to a graduate program. Do I have a shot at the UT CS grad program? My transcript has an awful lot of F’s and D’s on it from those early days, but A’s with a B or two since.

Hello! I am currently a Sophomore at a very competitive high school of about 200 students per grade. My freshmen year wasn't so good due to getting adjusted to the rigorous coursework but I am now picking my grades up. I was wondering if I could get accepted into UT with good GPA and test scores even if I'm not in the top 25% since the majority of the students are pretty smart. Thank you!

Hello! I am currently a junior in high school and my gpa right now is around 3.3, this year i have taken classes which I will succeed in (hopefully.) and this eventually will raise my gpa . I am apart of student council, junior achievement, deca & TASK. I have yet to take the sat's. I am an officer in student council btw. Also aside from school, I build websites for companies and have taught several young students about building websites. I have always had a balanced mix of pre-ap/ap/regular classes. I am also a National Society of High School Scholars member and will hopefully become an NHS member this year. So my question is do you think I am going in the right direction to get into ut? & do you have any recommendations of stuff I should do to increase my chances? Thanks!

How do you know if you're automatically admitted? I'm a 17 year old high school grad who had average grades and a 3.19 GPA. I'm a military kid (TX resident) who's moved around a lot and am currently on a gap year in Germany with the CBYX scholarship. Should I be admitted?

My daughter has automatic acceptance, quick question about if she doesn't get into her major though, does she still get to go to UT, how does that all work??
@UTAdmissionsGuy
@UTAdmissionsGuy 8 жыл бұрын
+Amy Ottmers Thanks for your question! If she has automatic admission, she can definitely go to UT. However, no majors are guaranteed. In the event she doesn't get her first choice major, she will likely be given a list of other majors she can choose from. This will be part of the admissions decision during spring of her senior year. I talk about this a bit in a recent blog post: texadmissions.com/blog-post/are-some-majors-more-competitive-than-others/ and here: texadmissions.com/blog-post/does-your-second-choice-major-matter/

I'm in the top13% of my class with a 3.73 GPA and kinda average test scores. Do you mind letting me know what my chances are of being admitted? Thank you!

Hello Mr. Martin! I really appreciate what you do for students like me! I have a question. So I am currently in 11th grade. And next year I have to change schools due to personal reasons. The school I am changing to doesn't rank new 12th graders. The guidance counselor said that my rank would be "omitted". If my 12th grade counselor were to put my junior year rank on their transcript, would UT take it into consideration? I am going to ask my new guidance counselor to provide a note on the transcript stating that the rank is not from their school, but my previous school (11th grade). Would auto admit work for me since the rank is from a different school? (I am in the top 7% at the moment). Thank you.

+Jack Klnet Hey thanks for the comment. UT will use whatever your rank is at the end of your junior year, and since you won't have any senior year grades yet, you will be fine :) Just have them submit the transcript from your old school along with the letter and you should be fine.

I'm a transfer. How did I get accepted even though I didn't get my first or second choice majors? It seems they just chose one for me.
@UTAdmissionsGuy
@UTAdmissionsGuy 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question. You didn't get accepted when, as a high school student? The transfer process is completely separate and they will only evaluate your college coursework.

UT Admissions Guy I didn't get accepted when I applied during HS 2 years ago but I went to a CC and just transferred in for this fall.

What would the worst percentile acceptable by UT? For example, I am top 10%, but it might change to be around 11% or 12%. Would that be a guaranteed rejection despite exceptional extra-curricular activities and a 29 on the ACT? Also, would the fact that I have taken a Pre-Calculus course on Canvas have any substantial affect on my acceptance.

+Demetri Petronavik Nope, you should definitely apply. 95% of UT's incoming freshman class comes from the top quarter. The spaces for non-automatically admitted students are highly competitve, but of course many people still gain admission.

What if I'm not in the top quarter of my class? My grades haven't been the best and my GPA is around 2.7. I'm going into my senior year this fall and I plan on raising my GPA and grades but will UT even SEE my senior year grades?
@UTAdmissionsGuy

Hi Fay. Thanks for your comment. More than 95% of UT's admitted students come from the top quarter. Unless you have very strong test scores, it may be difficult to gain admission.

I've also been receiving emails every other week from UT saying to consider them and to visit the campus and recently, to join them for a complimentary reception near my city. Does that mean anything?

I understand. You can go to the recruiting events, but it does not help with admissions.
