That is 1000% class and sportsmanship. She was able to keep it together to take the podium and answer tough questions when im sure she feels like her world has just crumbled to the ground. She was even worried about them getting a good coach to move forward with! Thats the type of leader you want on your team...when a door closes a window opens up and im sure she will end up better off in the long run.

This is one of the greatest firings of all time, and it’s the way the press conference is stopped cold when they realize there’s no point in following up on what was under normal circumstances a perfectly reasonable question. In the university’s defense, you can’t put up three straight clunker, non-competitive seasons (5-26 this year for starters) in today’s college game and expect to have your job for long.

I was the pitching coach at a school in the sun-belt conference and got the axe after an underwhelming 3rd year. It was hard not to take it personally. i felt like an absolute failure but in the end it was the best thing to ever happen to me. Hope she bounces back.

She did handle that amazingly. If she hadn’t shown up she would have been mocked as a woman who couldn’t handle her emotions, and she knows that. Even tho a man could get angry and hostile and just be passed off as understandable in the moment, she didn’t even let a tear go while there. That’s grace and strength and respect.

Iowa football has kept Kirk Ferentz even after 10 seasons with similar records. When you’re a good coach, having one bad season generally doesn’t cost you your job. And she was a good coach, which is why this is getting the reaction it is. The way the school handled this is 100% out of the ordinary.
