Ute storyteller Larry Cesspooch gives an account of his tribe's creation story. Larry is a modern storyteller who uses both traditional and modern ways. He is a filmmaker and currently resides in Neola, Utah on the Uintah & Ouray Ute Reservation.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

The Earth will take care of us, either in a good way or a bad way-It depends on how we take care of it.

Very very similar in many respects to other creation stories in different parts of the world. The common threads are striking if you are honest. Can they all be wrong or is there something innate the holds as universally and cosmically true?

Sitting here trying to figure out how to say this without sounding biased ~ I'm enrolled with this tribe & it makes me mad to hear about our people caring about someone else other than themselves, because so far I've received nothing but lies, injustice & hate from alot of them & no one is talking to me so I'm learning alot on my own & if it's right or not idk? Nor am i beginning to care

There are 3 Ute Tribes. I was raised by a Ute family on rez (foster care). My Baby is Ute also. Not everyone is the same. My best friend is Ute and is a great person. In school I had bad experiences with some people and also as an adult. In life, we find that everywhere. There are positive and negative people in all walks of life. A lot of reservations have historical truma that lead to intergenerational truma. many people have a lot of personal things going on and are mean because of their own truma. I learned not to take it personal. Seek out those that are positive. Not all Ute's are bad. At the end of the day, we are all human and make mistakes. I also learned a while ago to forgive people, just so I'm not holding on to anything that can hold me back. I hope you find some great people that are positive.

I think the word is creation not creator, to use creator is to indicate unbalance.. There is no one or thing that's Superior.. everything is equal.. the word is important, creation is balance and all must be in balance to coexist and exist.. no one God or being or supernatural, it's creation my brother, all in unison to create creation
