The Ute tax has passed both houses of parliament and is set to become law. The law is inflationary at a time when the government pretends to care about cost of living. It also has significant issues with its underlying assumptions, practicality, and myopia.

We trust our government for the most part, (that changed dramatically during the pandemic), we have never had to fight for independence, never been invaded and have long had a culture of she'll be right mate. Now however many Australians are waking up to the actions of those who have taken advantage of the laid back culture we have allowed ourselves to have. Aussies are a laid back, naive and well meaning people for the most part and that can be taken advantage of. just look at these draconian wef policies, data breaches and hacks, mass immigration, gun bans, digital id, mis and disinformation bill, heavy taxation, lockdown etc. aside from those who have woken up, most aussies just take it. not hard to see how easy it is to exploit and take advantage of the Australian people.

Our farm utes are currently at 185000 to 360000 kms. Unable, refused to pay covid increases couldn't get them anyway. The Labour government is only listening to the extremist views the noisy minorities. We are currently having to plan on going forward with our sheep industry thanks to another policy of theirs. Do we get rid our grass eating methane producing sheep and replace them with monoculture crops. Burning more diesel in the tractors and trucks we are struggling to update. Wait till they also penalise weight. If you look at France, on a new car you can pay up to 60 K Euros for excess CO2 and the same for weight penalty starting at 1600 kg. They add up as well, it is both at the same time. As you guessed it, EVs and Hybrids are exempt of the scam.

Something that no one is talking about is the fact that the major manufacturers are not investing into EVs anymore. Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini (all owned by VW, btw), BMW, Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Honda/Acura, Mercedes, Renault/Alpine, Peugeot and Ferrari are continuing to develop ICE engines in renewed motorsports programs in WEC, F1, GT3 and Super GT. If ICE are really on the way out and EVs were truly better, all of these manufacturers would not be investing millions into developing ICEs and Hybrids in motorsport applications. They'd be pumping out EVs like there is no tomorrow instead, but they aren't. If anything, they are pumping the brakes on EV production. Ford and GM both posted losses in the billions on their EV ranges and VW have straight up shut down EV plants. This smells of corruption and Labor simply scratching the back of their best mates, China, who are the biggest producers of EVs in the world (and also the EVs most likely to randomly erupt into flames).

I did a calculation for a Camry Ascent Hybrid. Based on the 2029 amounts the extra cost is $6,700. However, indexing to CPI and adding GST (another tax on a tax!) brings it to $8,621! It currently has a drive away price of $42,000, meaning the Vehicle Emission Standard will increase the cost by 21%!!!!!!!! This would take the cost to almost $51,000. The total tax (Vehicle Emission TAX and GST would be over $12,000). The government clearly HATES Australians. Ask Albo and the BoBo idiot what the Vehicle Emissions Standards are for their two new $450 million private jets.
