Why not run the switch to the cab?

My fan switch went out on my side x side. I bought a new one for around $15. Unfortunately I had to replace head gasket because it got to hot. I had sunglasses on and the sun was shining on dash so didn’t see temperature light come on. Next time I ran it a white cloud was billowing from exhaust. It still ran ok but quit running it until I got the head gasket changed.

Crazy how these things worked I have tested voltage at that plug and it’s testing 12 V but when I try to jump it, it does not turn the fan on, but when I put power from the battery to it, the fan comes on.

You might be JUMPING at the wrong place. I can't understand why it would not. It's just an on/off switch.

Thank you for the video. I have the same UTV, and it runs hot consistently. I'm going to do the same thing. So you just pulled the cable off of the temp sensor and ran a toggle between the pinouts, correct?
@HowTowithDoc Жыл бұрын
Yes... you can also run it to the cab, but I don't need that. Mine runs HOT as heck in the summer.

@@HowTowithDoc awesome! Thank you for the quick response and great video!

Thanks for the idea and the video. I assume it didn't turn on a cel? Also- you really should know what your water temp actually is. Mine runs hot too- I turned it off at 190 degrees so I am doing the same mod but to the dash. In addition: you should be able to use the cig lighter and the fan at same time since they are both stock items and stock always allows a little extra for accessories to be added- which would be on top of the cig lighter and fan.

What did you hook the wires to from the switch, did you cut the 2 wires that go into the pin out or did you hook them onto the pin out?
@1pointcalvinist11 ай бұрын
You unplug the wires from the sensor and take a piece of wire and jump across in the plug.

What if that doesnt kick the fan on? However fan does kick on when applying 12volts directly to the blue wire? @1pointcalvinist

Are you wired into your heat switch or just into power straight to the fan? I've burned a few switches up wiring straight fan power like that before I learned my lesson. 😂

Simply replaced the auto sensor with a manual switch

You should be good to go then! 😊👍

Seems out of character for you… the switch should have been mounted on the dash in the cab, not swinging in the breeze under the hood. Alternatively, speak to your local automotive store and buy a temperature sensor that activates at a lower more suitable temperature.

Wouldn't have been easier just to jump your fuse in the fuse panel
