China is stunningly beautiful and so welcoming and safe. If I were 30 years younger I'd be out there like a shot but my time is past. I was born in Buxton btw but recognise nothing of it in the town you filmed. Mind you I haven't been back there for 45 years.

Same here plus the fact that I am on dialysis with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and am unable to travel freely because of it. Word of advice to the young and healthy - do it now while you are still able to. You never know what is around the corner of life. I "wasted" my life married to my work and by the time I retired, I was hit by health problems which curtailed my traveling plans. So, don't wait while you still can. These days, I have to depend on video logging content creators like Jason "Burger King" Lightfoot, Amy Lyons (Blondie in China), Jerry Goode, Luca and Rachelle, Fermube, Jerry Grey, Sabrina in China, Rafa goes around, Gweilo 60, Katherine Journey to the East, Lee Barrett, and many, many other foreigners fortunate to travel, see, record and share with us their real experiences in the real China. But nothing beats being there in person - all’s the more pity.

It's unusual the weather is bad in autumn time, it is normally sunny and dry. Guilin is my hometown and I luckily enough to stay 2 months this summer holiday and working remotely from hometown. I hope I have that chance again in future.

I visited Guilin 5 years ago and it was breathtakingly beautiful. I felt like I was stepping into one of those old Chinese paintings. And the food…🤤 I’m addicted to their rice noodles with river snails and osmanthus cakes.

Guangxi province is worth a visit when in China. Easily reached from Shenzhen or Guangzhou by fast rail and can also get to Zhangjiajie to the north directly via Guilin city. Xingping (of the 20 quai note fame) is also the locality of the G train station about 25km from Yangshuo. There's a shop selling coffee beans in West street, Yangshuo, that features (of all things) a pet lama!
