I like this video a lot, you explain everything so clearly, thank you. While watching a lot of other Ideas came to my mind.( THAT happens often ) if I would add a hood i would do so before working the front and neck border. Then work the border, it would go along the front and hood edges. That would look really nice too.

yes that is where you would add a hood

I love this pattern! This is my first adult garment. I stash-busted and used some beautiful vanilla 7ply boucle cotton (circa 80s) that I bought from Tassie's Wool Mill yrs ago. I made it longer, just past bum, and finished off the edges in rope twist. Can't wait to make a few more of these. Could not be easier, thanks to your great tutes! Thanks :) ps would love a v-neck jumper / sweater tute.

Hello, thank you for the great feedback. I am wanting to make a cardigan like you you want. you thinking V neck or the other style I have a video on ? I have made the V neck sweater (not done the pattern or the tutorial yet, running out of time) but basically its the V neck cardigan and you keep going until the V neck is big enough to close up at the front, then you work in the round :)

The link to your one colour sleeves is broken but I suppose it's the same as the other sleeves without changing the yarn of course. The wine cardigan is soooo gorgeous but I can't make the front from the recipe. I'm a beginner. Last week I made your orange hat for one of my cousins and this weekend I began your pink and blue scarf, both in navy blue though since said cousin is male and 19. Both videos were easy to follow along. Thank you so much!
@CrochetwithClare7 жыл бұрын
Hello, both of them worked for me, might of been a glitch , but here are both the links for you :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZofXiJt5pNKAkJY kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYCrq3yHfdBmrdk Yes the ends of the row of the first few rows on the cardigan are are little tricky, but once you get past that it is easy to see where to go The collar on the wine version is added after you have finished the cardigan and are working on the edging

On the sleeves could you use a smaller hook instead of decreasing? I love your videos and the way you explain how to do each project. Also I have always had trouble with the edges and trying to make them so I don't have too many stitches or not enough and look a little cleaner.
@CrochetwithClare6 жыл бұрын
yes you could essentially do this. the only thing that may be off is that decreasing gradually brings the size down and using the smaller hook will make the entire sleeve small so it may be snug on your upper arm and larger on your forearm.

video 2 notes:: i did 20 rows under the arm, (55 inch bust) total yardage used was 1200 yards, no sleeves cause i could not figure out how to decrease the proper way (i know how to decrease just could not get it to fit properly), stitch count around arm hole was 70 and could not make it smaller so no sleeves, it does not fit good at all, way off and looks weird, oh well maybe i can find a buyer otherwise it goes to the storage bin, thank you for a great video :-)

A trick I have used when I can't figure out the decrease in a sleeve, is to go down a hook size. If you do a few rows in say a 5mm hook, then a few in a 4.5mm, then a few in a 4mm the sleeve will taper without any decreases.
@CrochetwithClare8 жыл бұрын
Great tip JJ , i will have to remember that for next time, I am working on a fingering weight one at the moment and i think i am just about to start the sleeves

I love your videos Thank you so much for sharing !❤️ Can I ask what is the measurement from the arm whole to the bottom? I'm loving your videos. Do you have a pattern for this type of cardigan using a 4 ply or 6 ply yarn or can I adjust this pattern or maybe use a child's cardigan pattern by varying the hook size maybe??
@CrochetwithClare8 жыл бұрын
Hello :) I have made this pattern using Australian 4ply yarn and it works fine :) This pattern has various sizes and you can pick the one that works or you . I think I chose the 1 size bigger in pattern for 8ply and 2 sizes bigger for the 4ply. That will make sense when i talk about the neckline in the pattern :) Hope this helps you
@diamondragdoll8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply. I actually started my cardigan using a 6 ply yarn I brought back from Germany before I got your reply. I've used your same basic principles and I love this top down approach to making a cardigan. I've made a number of changes to your pattern and I'll post a pic when I finish it. I can see myself using this idea over again.

This is a great pattern and tutorial... i have a question for anybody who has made this cardigan.... if you made the cardigan by using the formula Claire gave us for measurements did your cardigan come out with a snug fit or looser fit ? I'm looking to make my cardigan a little bigger rather than snug , so i was just wondering if i should go up a size or just stick with the exact measurements i get ?
@CrochetwithClare5 жыл бұрын
if you would like it to be a little bigger i would go up a size. then you could actually try it on as you as well.
@dawnamendola86905 жыл бұрын
bobwilson123 thank you for responding i a Italy started overand went down to small size it was way too big lol ... i used hobby lobby i love this yarn , it's very soft but if i go with a number 3 light weight would i use I hook or smaller hook i like the way the small is fitting me using worsted weight but i would like to try lighter yarn should i stay with I hook and do small size or go up one size and use I hook?
@dawnamendola86905 жыл бұрын
*actually not Italy
@CrochetwithClare5 жыл бұрын
dawn Amendola if you used a light weight yarn like a dk/8ply or sport I suggest using the size hook recommended by your yarn. If you are using a dk weight yarn then you would use a size G/4mm hook for this size yarn. If you would like it to be a little airier you can go up to a size 7/4.5mm but I would not go any higher than a size H/5mm hook as this may make the holes between stitches too loose. My patterns are written to be able to use either dk/8ply or worsted. For the worsted you use a size I/5.5mm hook. If you follow along with the written pattern it shows you how many chains to use for each type of yarn. If you do go up a hook size though this will change the measurements and how each size will fit.
@dawnamendola86905 жыл бұрын
bobwilson123 yes i followed your instructions i used an I (5.5 hook) and used a worsted weight yarn the first cardigan i started i did size up from the small it was way too big , so then i started over used same size hook and worsted weight yarn and did size small the same size you make in the video and it's still too big I've been crocheting for years and i can never get cardigans to come out right at all :( I love the simplicity of this pattern and there is ABSOLUTELY no sewing !!!! So maybe i can start all over ( the cardigan i have now only needs one more arm done but i stopped because it's just not sitting right i made it long and when i put it on it lays funny hangs very forward and comes up in the back and i put in on and put the shoulders more towards the back the collar part around my neck hangs in the back , it's just too big i would like to try this again which will be third time for me maybe i should just do worsted weight yarn and a G hook ? The pattern is great and i love it i would make a few but I'm not sure what to do from here ...

+Mishelle Garrett hi, i am sorry but i do not have a hooded version at this time but i do appreciate the suggestion. it would look pretty with a hood. you could try to join the yarn at the collar and crochet a square or rectangle the length from your neck to the top of your head and then crochet the top together to make a seam. hope that makes sense.
