But I am curious how do you figure out how many stitches you need prior to the increases. Like for a chain of 76 your increases are at 10,24,10,&24?

@@ginagee5627 I have not made this in fingering yet so I am not exactly sure how many stitches are needed for the sweater. I would suggest going up at least two sizes and then try on after getting to the separation for the arms

Dear Clare, hope you are feeling better by now, I understand hard days. So glad you put this adult sweater on. I also prefer the pause method. I have been making the baby sweaters which as so similar as you know, but learned something very new watching this video, which is to make an increase at the place you join at the start. I had not noticed that in the written baby pattern, makes a big difference. I had to frog four times joining at the neck it kept twisting dang it! Anyhow as usual thanks a big bunch I do enjoy and always look to see what you are talking about. You seem so patient and explain pretty well I think. Perhaps you need a new Bob huh? your fan grandma sam

Thanks for this pattern Clare, I have been looking for a simple style jumper like this all winter! So definitely making this. It would be helpful if you could include on your patterns the amount of yarn needed to make the different sizes as you do not show how much yarn is in each of the balls you are using. Thanks again. :)

Yolk is the yellow portion of an egg. Yoke - (2 of several definitions) - A wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull. A part of a garment that fits over the shoulders and to which the main part of the garment is attached, typically in gathers or pleats. p.s. I had to look it up lol

Yesterday I got the idea of making a sweater from my sister. She was wearing one and I decided I wanted to make one. So I came on youtube and found this video. I went and got the yarn which I decided brown and pink were the colors I wanted to use. I started to make this sweater. This will be my first sweater I will have made. I am only on video one and I hope soon to be on video 2. I have to do this slow cause my carpel tunnel will act up and if that happens then I will have to put off finishing this for a while. I figure if I really like how this sweater is when it is finished I may have to make another for myself..=)

Hey Clare, I was just wondering, would this pattern work with HDC? I was thinking with the yoke that I could use HDC and do the increase on every other row. I just like the more closed fabric that HDC makes as opposed to DC. Thanks
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 8 жыл бұрын
you could use hdc for the top. it would just take more rows to do. just keep increasing just like with the double crochet until you reach the measurements or size you need.

Loved the video; excellent as usual...Since, I am triangular shaped, is there a way that I can make the body part a bit larger? I have gone a size bigger on the top to compensate, but, I still think it may be too small once I get down to my middle and bottom area...i plan on adding a few rows to the neckline to adjust for the smaller size that will be needed in that area...Thanks, Sweetie...

Hello Sarah, so glad that you can use my tutorials to further your skills :) I have not made a hoodie before, but if I was going to I would - Attach yarn at center front crochet around the neck opening until you get back to the center front - DO NOT JOIN- Turn Crochet back across Turning your work at the end of each round Crochet until your hood is tall enough, Fold hood and sew top seam Hope this helps :)

Thank you for taking the time to share your tutuorials. I watched part one and two, and most of part three. I haven't attempted any apparel yet, have made alot of scarves, blankets, prayer shawls, etc. I think I will be able to accomplish this pattern! I have a question that pertains to decreasing when you are ready to attach the sleeve. I am going to make it in one color, not the spiral you showed (although I think it looks great)! You decreased in every double crochet grey row, and skipped the half double row. Do you do this the same way using one color if you are only doing double crochet, and not the combination of both? I hope that makes sense. Again, thank you so much!!
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 8 жыл бұрын
+Pamela Binder Hello, yes makes perfect sense :) Yes I would decrease every second row of DC - if you want the sleeves to decrease faster , do it every row, hope this helps

It's called a yoke bc when put a yoke on animals, they are yoked together, so therefore when you start the neck of dress, it is called a yoke. There is another word for yoke, but I can't remember what that word is.

+Adriana Guadron Hello, thank you so much for your wonderful feedback I would say yes it is possible with the single crochet. I have wanted to make one in the hdc stitch, I just got my yarn (yep my yarn ban is totally busted, but it was $2 a ball and I can make a woolen sweater for about 10% of the normal price !!) Let me know how you go with it, I would say that dont make your tension too tight or it will be very stiff and not have a drape to it

Hello Bobwilson123, can you please give me some advice? I started my own sweater after making 3. This time in foundation hdc. The stitches matched up for each increase with a 74 stitch yolk. My yolk started curving to the right. The holes don't match up. My stitches also don't match after I created the arm holes. I don't know what I did wrong. I looked at the work and haven't missed any stitches or accidental increase. Thank you in advance.
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 4 жыл бұрын
did you also check that you did not add a stitch into the space created when joining rounds? have you already joined for the sleeves? Where exactly are you in the pattern?
@memykyoko
@memykyoko 4 жыл бұрын
@@CrochetwithClare I did check my stitch count. I put 3 stitches along with the ones in the middle of the increase and continued along each stitch across. My front and back stitch count was 64. And the added stitches for the arm was 3 each along with the 2 in the increase. My stitch count total should be 138? I came up to 132 or 133. I made sure to check for increases/decreases or skipped stitches. Because that has happened 4 rows down. I was so sad to unravel my progress lol.

I stopped after the joining the front and back 2 rows in because my stitch count wasn't adding up.
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 4 жыл бұрын
@@memykyoko after you have done your chain....because you are using the hdc, you will want to do 1 less stitch. with the DC you make your chain and dc into the 5th dc form hook With the hdc you will need 1 less chain, hdc onto into the 4th ch, the skipped chain counts as hdc and a ch 1 I noticed you said you used the foundation hdc, you will need less stitches than the original chain because you skip the ones at the start. I think you need 3 less stitches

How many chains start chains would I have to do if I wanted to make it roughly a Mens L or XL? I want to make a sweater and felt it so I have to make it bigger the end size. I am not quite sure from the chart on the pattern.

Hi, here is the written pattern, You would need to take the actual measurements of the person you are making it for in order to know how many chains to use. You can find the written pattern here and instructions for the measurements as well. Once you know the measurements it would be easier for me to help you with the rest. www.bobwilson123.org/wearables.html

Hello, if you watch the video or check out the written pattern, it shows you how to size your crochet to fit you :) So that way it doesn't matter on yarn, tension or hook size you use, you can get it to fit

I'm confused on measurements. I'm in a larg T shirt size. I measured 21 1/2 around the neck. measured the arm holes left side 8 1/2 right side 13 the length I want is 34" how do I match up with your measurements??? yarn I'm using redhart size 4 worsted weight yarn?? HELP
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 8 жыл бұрын
+Julie Brown if your neck hole is 21 1/2 than you might want to chain the 76 and then feel how loose it is around once the first round is done. then you can follow the rest of the pattern for the rest of the measurements. you will keep going in the increase rounds until you reach the arm hole measurements. you should try it on as you go in order to see how it will fit your arms. hope this helps

Can you give the age of stitches given in adult sweater
@CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 4 жыл бұрын
G'day sankar aparna thank you for your comment. I am not sure what you mean. Do you mean the amount of stitches ? That depends on what size the person wears If you meant the age of the person, this will also depend on what size they waer Have you joined our group yet? @CrochetwithClare
@CrochetwithClare 4 жыл бұрын
@@sankaraparna3624 They all pertain to the size you are making. the smallest number would be for the baby while the largest would be for the larger adult. Depending on the age and size you are making will determine the amount of chains you are doing
