V Twin Golf Cart Tachometer Troubleshoot Part 2 / Predator 670 Carburetor Adjustments

In this video we show you our working Equus Tach on our Harbor Freight 670 22 HP engine to monitor the RPM's throughout the engines life.
We also show you how to adjust the engine idle on the Predator, "PLEASE NOTE THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY" that being said we had to adjust our idle because we were running around 1500-1600 RPM at cold start and 1900-1800 RPM once the engine came to operating temp.
Final result that worked best for our set up was 1100-1200 RPM's, this gave up a nice smooth shifting motion for our F-N-R on the gear shiftier for the EzGO Workhorse.

So you turn the screw left to idle it down and right to idle it up

correct, you need to do it in small increments though. if you do to much you will mess up the fuel/air mixture and it will run like crap .

Also do you have any issues with the idle dropping when you just hit the throttle quickly then it will stall unless your feather the throttle back up then idle will stabilize again? Thanks

I did have an issue on my first motor with the idle staying true, ended up having a vacuum issue with motor 1 so we took it back and got another. Motor 2 has been better, I have not been running the cart as much as normal due to other projects & traveling but now this motor is running high on the rpm's. my solution has been to add extra return springs, so far so good but I also believe its partially because I don't run it as much. Hope this helps!

On mine it shows if you pull the rubber plug off to adjust the Phillips screw to adjust the idle. Do I have a different motor than you?

on the predators I've had (this is my 2nd 670) you have to use a pick tool and bust out the steel plug/cap (2x) one for each screw. make sure your tach is hooked up or have mini one, like a stihl EDT tach to make sure you don't lower the rpms to where is stalls at idle because you'll burn out the starter and there are like $80 because they don't have a huge aftermarket on them.

What’s your elevation? Also how much did you turn it from stock settings and what direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) did you turn both screws? Thanks!! Currently im having issues with my shifter as the idle is two high.

I am in Boynton Beach, I think we are about 8'-15' for elevation. as for the settings I wanna say I turned them both out equally. I can say the first motor did not have a tach hooked up to it, I think that's why I had issues with it. even if you get one of the rpm testers from Amazon just to dial it in would be a great help for you. just letting you know from my mistakes.

So counter clockwise is to lean it out and clockwise is to run rich? I'm not too worried about the idle as I am using it for a pressure washer. I noticed that my engine runs better with the choke pulled and think it's running too rich or with too much fuel. Not sure if this is the best way to fix the problem but any advice would help. Was also thinking about cleaning the carburetor. What do you think?

Man I see you’re barely getting on it and you’re hitting 4k. Is it ok to run it past 4k? I was going to set my limit at 4k.
