Once you get over that initial hump the game really opens up and you start to have a ton of fun.

i have the same issue. i got the game when it just began and to this point i've never really put much effort into it. as an easy-to-frustrate person it's quite hard for me. but i'm trying :P

Yep it took a long time to start enjoying it, you need to understand a lot of mechanics and the tech tree to jump into a new world and have fun, the learning curve is quite steep. they should have a newbie world option that starts you off with a few things, or maybe gives you a caravan like the merchants so at least you have someplace to sleep at the start until you got youtself sorted and vencher out.

I found the start to be the most fun. Wolves are a real huge threat and you have to use your ears to look out for them. Also that primitive playstyle is kind of cool tbh. It feels like what Minecrafts early game should've felt like.

Awesome update! The one thing I think this game will need in the future is a more satisfying combat system/more elaboration on enemy types, but that is simply my opinion on it. I would love to see giant locust biomes underground, with larger machines, as well as drifters that are more intimidating!

I agree. The only part of this game that I feel is lacking is combat, but the knockback and shields are a step in the right direction. I'd love to see a simplified version of Mordhau's combat in the game, maybe not fully directional attacks but different attack types (heavy, light) and a stamina system to go along with it.

@@matth3601 something like Chiv? I could only dream about a sandbox game with combat like Mordhau or Chiv. If vintage story will have even a simplified version of it, it will be #1 game for me.

Oh and a way to save character profiles. Imagine, you design your character using the in game customization options. Then hit the save preset, set the name and PRESTO. Anytime you want to play with that design on a new world you can select "Load Preset" and BAM.

True, it's like so much more flexible. It even has a modding API built in, something minecraft lacks. I do hope for them to add in things like electricity... OR just a behind the scenes system that modders could utilize. Like a system that the base game doesn't use, but modders bring to use.

Ooo, could definitely see more pottery.. Like say Clay Jugs! For drinking the custom brews :3 Ooo, and make music if desired. A resonator build that allows players to make use of temporal gears to make special items. Like say, advanced time accelerating fertilizer. *Makes crops grow quickly/instantly*

i try not to watch the previews so everything can be a surprise/brain working experience, but your videos definitely deserve the views. your game deserves the same popularity as minecraft, if not more. please never sell out to microsoft! something i feel needs to be said about vintage story vs minecraft-vintage story is the evolution of minecraft. everything is absolutely better. from the non-mod chisel to the ability to shine coloured lights, its bones are stronger by miles. there is something strange about mods for vintage story, however. i'm not sure what the issue is, but they seem to suck resources in a way they probably shouldn't. there's barely a need for them anyway. i appreciate the work that's being done-this game makes me happier than i could be if it didn't exist. my husband and i livestream our playthrough at his channel the disaster apparatus. we find little bugs, we try to explore limits, we talk about the game and life. might be egotistical, but i'd recommend it almost as much as i'd recommend vintage story itself. thank you for this super game and your dedication to it

I would probably suggest also allowing players to put ANYTHING in the offhand. Remove that restriction, since sometimes it is nice using the offhand for a secondary tool when mining. Mine stone, then press the swaphand hotkey to switch to shovel.

You guys should add a Culinary Update. New cooking utensils with pots and pans to make more unique recipes to consume. Herbs and spices can be found around the world naturally and restore very little sat value when consumed alone, but combined with other ingredients will make delicious cuisine.

Now at 1:08 Does that also include a check for whether the fluid is finite or not? That way if we ever had the ability to pour the fluids directly in the world, we wouldn't get say.. Infinite Milk. I.e Player pours milk, bucket gets fully emptied. Player uses bucket on milk, milk in world replaced with air and bucket gets filled. If not, this feature could benefit modders who wanted to add ways to get lava, or other fluids in world.. Like say oil.

i want to say that drifters do not only spawn near rifts. they also spawn near you at any dark/ night light or setting and will continue to attack you after you to into free mode for a time. its very strange idk who else its happening to: the sling and othert features are cool other than these !i will say i dont like how the thorow of stones make it so hard to play now
