@MikeAnderson-uj3oo10 ай бұрын
I was right there with ya. I know how tight those engine bays are to begin with. They still have a lot of hurdles to jump. At least they have the main one cleared.
@cudak88810 ай бұрын
@@MikeAnderson-uj3oo Even though they have some massive issues to deal with, I'd say the remaining hurdles are next to nothing (though I would have tried a K-member that supports coilovers in order to hack out the shock towers for throttle body clearance). If there's a bellhousing, there will be a flywheel and clutch, and the remaining bits to make it workable are nothing in comparison to the job they just achieved. Plus, since they had to low-mount the rack, they should be able to avoid the bump steer issue by using the later spindles - relatively easy issues to overcome. The only thing I'm concerned about are engine mounts. I don't trust how far out they're cantilevered, or the thickness of the mounting plate. That's the only obvious point of failure that I'm seeing at the moment.
@earlbrown10 ай бұрын
I didn't see a whole lot of room for a radiator.
@cudak88810 ай бұрын
@@earlbrown They can hack the core support and install one slightly angled, C4 Vette style. They can go full Porsche and run a pair of radiators on either side of the fenders - and given Tony's experience with a 996s - including having PowerKraut on hand as a reference - doing that wouldn't be too difficult either. So many ways to make this happen. The intake is the only concern I still have. Does the "other" intake bolt up as the internet claims it will, will it drive the build cost way up, and will it provide the clearance necessary?

This is SO much better than yet another LS swap!
@MikeAnderson-uj3oo10 ай бұрын
I will agree 1000%. I am so sick of LS swaps. And right behind that is body swaps. Taking an old body and sticking it on a modern car. Whatever happened to guys building their own chassis ? I just don't see the enjoyment in that. Maybe because I have built a few complete cars myself. Small block Chevette, 4x4 Elcamino, Mid engine VW van, Rear engine Ford Courier pick up, These were all complete hand fabricated chassis. No sticking a body on top of something else.

Like Jeremy Clarkson said once, an Aston is basically a Jaguar in a party frock. In the situation you guys are in, you will no doubt be using an aftermarket, stand alone, wire harness. So you will be able to eliminate all the issues they are notorious for. I will be honest, I really had doubts that you we're going to shoehorn that monstrosity in place. Good job boys. And Tony.

Simply Stunning! I absolutely love this build, Tony! I can’t say enough about it but I’ll try. This embodies the true spirit of hot rodding, just like the vets did on the dry lake beds after they returned home from WWII. Speaking of “dub’ya, dub’ya TWO,” as my beloved grandpa used to call it, I’m reminded another well known Mustang that benefited greatly from a British V-12 swap, the fighter aircraft that served as inspiration for Lee Iacocca’s original Ford Mustang: the P-51! Not sure if you realized it, Tony, but you just stumbled upon my dream custom build with significant historical heritage. I instantly envisioned a bright silver paint job with air brushed panels and rivets in a direct nod to the P-51D, with an old school olive drab interior with stacks of aviation gauges, levers, and canvas or leather bomber seats? My imagination is running wild with names like “LOW LEVEL ‘STANG” or, since it was the Rolls-Royce designed engine that completely transformed the Mustang into a real world beater, just straight up call it “MERLIN!” One last thought- if you route the exhaust out the front fenders to resemble the aircraft, paint some nose art of a dark haired, bosomy pinup girl in knee-high socks and not much else, name her “SIMPLY STUNNING” as she is on my tattoo and you can consider me at the top perspective buyers. Please! My wife may divorce me but I’d go into debt for the opportunity to own this direct link to aviation and automotive history. Don’t call me crazy, just crazy enthusiastic.😂

From 1999 to 2006 the Lincoln LS was available with a 3.0 l v6 with a manual transmission. The Aston Martin V12 was built from the 3.0 l v6 molds. Therefore the rest of the rear of the engines are the same. The flywheel and clutch from the Lincoln engine will bolt up to the crank on the V 12. I have seen both engines and when you look at them from the rear you can't tell the difference. Ford would use all the same dimensions as they already had the main parts. I don't think the clutch would be able to handle the torque oh the V 12 but it would be a start. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Specs on the 2001 5.9L is 420 HP @ 6000rpm. So if you can do some intake and exhaust work you could get 450 out of her. Going to be a blast to drive. High rpm screamer.

Can you put individual throttle bodies on the manifolds by hacking off one side and drilling and tapping it so you could run a plate and gasket seal setup from the itb to the manifold. Then you can snake a dual intake down into a new chin splitter and ram air combo to the itb manifold housing area with a air filter in-between. Could net you huge horse power gains

If I didn't see this video with my own eyes. I wouldn't have believed it. Fox body with a v12. Bravo gentleman.

I remember in my younger days someone said that Engine (Hemi) won't fit in that car, 1966 Chevy II, WRONG! I wish I still had the pictures! Stahl made the headers for it! (East Carnegie, Pa.)

Aston Martin does manual conversions on some of their older V12 cars from the early 2000s and they use the T56 so thats why the parts exist. Aston Martin works in England does this conversions and they probably know the clutch flywheel combo that works

The fitment of that reminds me of my buddy’s old S13 that had an RB26 in it. It was shoehorned in there for sure! I remember we had to hammer a small dent in the core support to clear the crank pulley.
