Wonderful photography...another area for us to hit someday. Thanks for sharing it. This episode re-reminded me about reliance on heaters and other items of "comfort technology" that we come to rely on especially for winter camping. So easy to thin your gear to fit the comfort range provided by your vehicle...it's all great...until something fails or breaks. Nothing worse than a cold night in a light bag with a failed heater thinking about the nice puffy down sleeping bag you left at home!

What I like about you Chris is that you don’t have much as far as overlanding gear, I mean that stove you have is like 5 years or older. Compared to the typical overlander who tries to get all the lights and gear out there, yours is simple and doable. Thank you

The only problem with Bend, OR (aside from cost of living) is that it is getting loved to death in the summer. Finding a parking place at trailheads and especially campgrounds is a real challenge. However, it is still a terrific place to live and play

A shame some are subbing out, so the the format has changed, nothing stays the same for ever. Now we have two cool vehicles, the amazing JK and the 4 wheel drive Winnebago. I’m amazed at where that orange Jeep has taken us all this past 4 years! Thank you Jeep for building the Rubicon and Ursa Minor for a wonderful integrated design. I’ve only got as far has the Colman stove, but my hopes are high on getting the rest. Until then, I look forward to my weekly fix with venture4wd.

You might be better off having the heater set to run at higher elevations, where it's colder and where you need it more often.
@marcelloorsini3373 жыл бұрын
I think the diesel version runs better in higher elevations.
@stevebailey76333 жыл бұрын
@@marcelloorsini337 that may be but as he does not have a diesel engine, moot point. He had mentioned (I think) that they can adjust the heater to not cause carbon at higher elevations, but it then would not run well at lower elevations.

You need the red arc BCD’s 1225 battery charger it will assist your alternator in charging the batteries plus your solar panel plugs into it so it manages your battery charging with both solar and the redarc BCDC. I have this system on my Jeep and it’s worked perfectly but before that I had plenty of problems with my batteries because the stand alone alternator will not sufficiently charge 2 of these agm batteries by itself something genisis doesn’t tell you.

Those AGM batteries you have to periodically maintenance charge them. Your alternator is not going to be able to charge them appropriately which causes them to die early.

Can you adjust the fuel ratio to burn better at higher elevations? It seems silly that you can't use it where it is needed.

Your rimrock critter was probably the “famous” Central Oregon pack rat, Chris. I lived in that area for years and they are a real pest. Can cause serious damage to engine wiring as well as anything else they can chew up. Wise to move as they are relentless!
@scottmacdonald18773 жыл бұрын
The local Toyota dealer told me that spraying your front tires/wheel wells with Pinesol is a really good deterrent to rodents getting into your engine compartment and interior. They normally will get up on top of the front tires to gain entry...A decent spray every couple of months.
@AdventureswithJerrod3 жыл бұрын
Btw..you saw that truck go by and thought..."WAIT WAS THAT MAV?!" LOL
@metaxaanabeer3 жыл бұрын
A lot of modern automotive wiring has eco friendly insulation now that is soy based and rodents really like that! Peppermint oil, a few drops in a spray bottle and then spritz everything you can get at keeps them at bay. Second tip, a clean engine and engine bay allows your engine to run cooler, always a good thing. Use your air to blow everything you can then just hose everything down with tire foam. Probably take you a couple or three applications.
