I'm binge watching old vids of yours...I know you have since solved the water and gas issues...but I just get LOST in thinking about all the great fishing you get to see!!! I'd have to take 3x the days you do anytime you get around those awesome streams, creeks, rivers, and lakes! My jeep has a kayak or a canoe on it most days I'm not working - thank you for dream fodder for future trips!

"low on drinking water" really made me say "what???" with a roaring mountain stream in the background. Well done on your vids, really enjoy them. The isolated mountain river camp site is absolutely stunning, and that river is full of trout no doubt. I'd spend days there just fly fishing.

MrWinger1951 the water have parasites and should be properly filtered and/or boiled before consumption.
@MrWinger19516 жыл бұрын
And that was part of my point, any overlander, camper, backpacker etc should have the means of water filtration. That being said, after thousands of miles hiking in the Appalachians I have never had Giardia and I carefully select the streams I drink unfiltered water from, which is more often than not. The same would hold true for mountain streams in the western mountains.

What, a new glacier forming right on the road? You do not carry anything to filter water with you in case you run out? I know you can easily boil it but a filter would be handy to have at all times in the wilderness! (HINT) When closing wire fence gates, pull the gate towards you with both hands and let the wire latch slide up over the post to secure the gate.

I came upon this video by accident and have not seen any other of your videos yet. Something I plan to do. Two things caught my attention; water and gas. In my what they now call "overlanding" (when I started we just called it 4 X 4 off road camping) experience two thing were always with us. One was a way to purify water and two extra gas in Jerry cans. Since I have not seen any of your other videos I do not know if you have water purifying capabilities with you or if you carry extra gas. If you don't if I were you I would consider adding them to your equipment. Age and health has limited my ability to get out as I uses to so videos like your's reminds me of the goof old days.

Whats up with the location? You say you are in the humbolt-toyaba national forest east of Elko Nv, but when you check on Google earth it says that humbolt is way southwest at Lake Tahoe. I found the devils punchbowl east of Elko and the ruby mountains, did you misspeak on the national forest?
@timetravellingbunny39526 жыл бұрын
The Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest IS in NE Nevada. I, too, do not see that the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is indicated in Google Maps. It is true that the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is on the border of California and Nevada. It is, also, true that the website referenced above for this national forest lists offices in Winemucca, Elko, and Wells, Nevada in its sidebar on the left. In addition, the Gaia GPS map shows that there are at least two portions of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest separated by sixty or seventy miles in the north eastern portion of Nevada.

Instead of using Cheezits, try using Japanese "Panko" bread crumbs or regular breaded breaded crumbs, it works real great as a filler, and even with a little egg, the crumbs, some onions, and a bit of tomato sauce you can have a smaller version of a meat loaf burger.....
