I lived in Germansen Landing when your aunt and uncle first arrived. I remember the day they arrived. This would have been in the 1960's. They stopped at our house and visited on their way to their place. We admired their pioneering strong spirit. They lived about 6 miles north of us. They had 3 young children. Your uncle made snowshoes which were highly sought after for their high quality. Your video showed me areas that I had not seen. For many years my father built the 'north road' as we called it.It went on past your uncle's place. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video of a very talented couple. I am happy to see them doing well. Love the kale garden. I wish you well in your travels!

I really enjoyed watching this video! It definitely took me back a few years. I spent my childhood up there, did homeschooling, and lived so very different than kids nowadays. I wouldn't change it for the world 🥰

As appealing as the nomadic "van life" is, I think I could be completely content in a secluded, self-sufficient, BEAUTIFUL location like this one. I could always take a short vacation on the road once in a while, but I honestly don't think I'd want to. Other than a little clutter (that I'd likely have too), this place is absolutely PERFECT. I hope you keep in touch with your aunt and uncle now that you've visited for the first time. They're living a life many of us dream about, and they've obviously got a lot to teach those who'll listen.

BEST EPISODE EVER!!! Your uncle and aunt live a great life. They are very well sustained. I mean, he builds everything himself plus a wife who loves gardening. Can't ask for anything better. Someday, when they are too old to stay there themselves or take care of it, I hope someone worthy will inherit that place and use it and not let it be abandoned and forgotten. I truly enjoyed this episode. It was epic! Great job and thanks for sharing.

Hey I grew up there! Ron and Ruth are the coolest. Ron is a legend up there. I grew up in a cabin at 12 mile and they live at 17 mile. That meadow you were overlooking on the cliff is 14 mile lookout. I miss it up there so much. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve been there. Great video!

Amazing....keep your cities. Work hard all, and then live outside of the craziness. I now live on an Island, enough services for safety and being attached to all that is needed. It's taken me 3 plus years to divorce my mind from the pull of city life....never going back...Always something to do, living on .62 of an acre...Peace and tranquility abounds.

Hi Chris. Your videos are very inspiring And entertaining for my wife and I. We've been following you since I discovered Your channel on KZbin. Your journey through British Columbia simply amassed me when you pulled into Your uncle's place . Love it. I also am originally from PA. in fact , Boyertown. Graduated from BAHS, 1973. I know Ron. That is if this is the same Ron with the tree house in the hollow up behind Updegroves air field by Frecons orchards. My old stomping grounds. Ron was and is still an inspiration to me. I new that he moved to Canada and wondered how he was doing after all these years. I'm happy for him and his wife. And you. What a small world. I followed suit a few years later and now live in Montana. Mabe one day our paths too will cross. Thanks for the vids, Happyand safe travels for you always.

Hi Chris, I don't recall if I ever met you but I felt after seeing your video I had to touch base with you. I went to High School with Ron and his wife Ruthann was my first wife's cousin. After Ron and I graduated we both started working at Dana Corp, in Pottstown Pa. Ron and I road back and forth to work for about a year and a half and one morning on the way home he said to me Bruce I am leaving I said what do you mean you're leaving? Ron said I'm taking the family and moving to Britsh Columbia. Knowing Ron the way I did I knew he was serious. Chris if you know the entire story you have to tell it, your video is great but it is only the tip of the iceberg. This family journey is simply amazing.

This was really cool....People in the cities just can't understand how this way of life is even possible. It's like a mental block that happens due to having everything you want or need right around the corner at all times. I especially like the .22 barrel for the stove weight and the stove burner cover on top of the wood stove so that you can cook or leave your coffee pot.
