I'm sure you know this now, but you could have used a pcm from a van 03 to early 07. The vans were a Lil behind on dbw setups. I've seen them up to 07 still being dbc. Using that year pcm will have the iac drivers needed to use dbc setup. There are list on line of the pcm with iac driver and without. Awesome work too. Subscriber 4-life!!

Man you know, I totally forgot about the Van PCM's, you're absolutely right, I'm pretty sure the vans kept drive by cable until 07 in some applications. Good info! Thanks for subscribing!

Hey Jason I watch this video year ago but now I am doing my swap on my v6 ...can you make a video on how you did the vin swap using hp Tuners please im in CA and need to pass emissions too doing this swap. Please make the video 🙏

Hey, so there are lots of videos on youtube on how to do a VIN swap using HP Tuners, that's how I learned to do it. I'm not comfortable making a video showing how to do it since I live in an emissions state and it's not exactly legal.

Thank you for getting back to me and I understand I tried figuring this out here in California but what I came out to terms is that the v6 VIN number are made for a V6 and I don't think there's a way . becomes there are particular numbers for the v6 just like there are particular numbers to identify the size of an engine from a 4.8 to 5.3 6.0 or can you explain to me how works . So I have a 2002 single cab GMC V6 5-speed but I'm going to swap in everything for my 03 gMC Yukon dash and harness because this one has the dual climate also steering column has all the buttons plus the doors are powered and its drive by a wire 5.3 4l60e so it should be plug and Play but to smog it is a different story 😞 I love your videos I am doing the same thing here i have my own KZbin channel i just started its about working on my project trucks a hobby and I enjoy it I also flip cars and sell parts too . The channel is called. Frank's project toys please follow me and any help you is appreciated 🙏

Yeah in california it's going to be challenging. In the VIN, the 8th digit designates which engine the vehicle is equipped with from the factory. Your 2002 single can should have an X as the 8th VIN, this indicates it was originally built at the factory with the LU3 4.3L V6 engine. The VIN is located in multiple places on the truck as well as programmed into all the computer modules in the truck. The V8 engine all have their own VIN digits to identify them as well, The LR4 4.8L V8 is VIN F, LM7 5.3L is VIN T, L59 5.3 is VIN Z, LQ4 6.0L is VIN U, and LQ9 6.0L is VIN N. I'm not completely familiar with how California does their SMOG inspections, but I do know that in my experience, people working at emissions testing stations are not always knowledgeable about what they are actually looking at. You may be able to pull it off, by using a V8 pcm, that uses the same operating system as your V6 pcm. If you do that you could put the V6 VIN into the V8 pcm so it matches the truck's VIN, then the only way to tell that anything has been done to the truck would be visually looking at the engine. As long as the SMOG inspector doesn't actually look too closely, or if they aren't familiar with these trucks, they won't know the difference. If I'm not mistaken, usually they plug into the computer to check for fault codes, verify the VIN on the dash, and do a visual inspection that the catalytic converters are still present under the vehicle, they don't even open the hood. If that's the case, you could definitely pull it off.

@@MohawkMotors thank you would you be willing to help me with the PCM I don't have HP tuners and if I did I would not know how to use it . I did have a guy reach out to me about reprogramming my original pcm but my concerns are by doing that is pretty much the issues you had to deal with on your video which was the cruise control that you had to rewire but also my wiring for my cab does not have the function of the power seats or power or dual climate on the dash and column.. this is why I want to use the harness out of the Yukon . I'm not sure if reprogramming the original PCM would work but it would keep the same vin just not sure if it will operate the 5.3 plus the 5.3 as the drive by wire. The 6V PCM is the 411 and the 5.3 is the 605 or the 786 . I'm not sure if it's a problem but my truck is a salvage title . Ok let me know what you think. thank you for your help 🙏

What about rear end stock?
@MohawkMotors Жыл бұрын
The rear axle? GM used the same rear axle in all the 99 to 06 and 07 classic pickups, they just changed the gear ratio and brakes depending on what options and equipment the truck was ordered with.

Hi Jason hope you have a good day thanks for your videos I have a 2000 4.8 Silverado hi miles on it ,do you know if swapping a 2003 Tahoe 5.3 will work with the same ecu
@MohawkMotors8 ай бұрын
Hello! So yes and no. If you put the intake manifold, oil pressure sensor, and wire harness from you 4.8 onto the 5.3 it will start and run, but it will run lean (not enough gas) due to the larger engine. It will be close enough that it will run well enough to drive, but long term or under heavy load it would damage the engine.
@adanhuizar72198 ай бұрын
So it is better to change the harness and ecu and go get the vin number updated or what would you recommend
@MohawkMotors8 ай бұрын
I would use the 4.8 harness and PCM, and just get someone with HP Tuners to do a segment swap for the engine segment. It's easy to do and is the least amount of changes required.

Being an 05 did it have factory electric fans? If so how did you hook them up to the new wiring harness? My new 03-07 harness does not have a purple plug to plug in where the factory fans plug in on the side of the fuse box
@MohawkMotors Жыл бұрын
Yes it did have factory electric fans. I just added the 2 control wires to the pcm connector and connected them to the factory electric fan harness and relay pack. Then just enabled the pcm for electric fans, there's lots of videos on how to, I did a pretty thorough explanation on my white 2003 2500HD.
@northeastpull735 Жыл бұрын
@@MohawkMotors thanks. I’ll have to look for the video. Most videos I see people are explaining how to add electric fans to a truck that never had them.
@MohawkMotors Жыл бұрын
If you got a new harness that doesn't have the 2 wire plug for the electric fans but your pcm is already set up to run electric fans, literally all you have to do is add the 2 wires from the pcm to the electric fan control plug. That's all I did.

tell me about your swap? What year truck, What year Engine, are you using the pcm from the truck or from the engine donor? Factory harness or aftermarket harness. There are different versions of all these things, the most common issue I see people having are from mixing and matching parts that aren't compatible.
@chrisadams89982 жыл бұрын
@Mohawk Motors the truck is a 2005 engine is 05 as well computer is a p59 out of a 2003 Tahoe reads 5.3 6.0 etc and I was using factory harness but ordered a factory harness off ebay for a 6.0 came out a chevy truck which is best to use aftermarket?
@MohawkMotors2 жыл бұрын
Are you running drive by wire or drive by cable throttle body?
@chrisadams89982 жыл бұрын
@@MohawkMotors drive by wire
@MohawkMotors2 жыл бұрын
OK, So you need to make sure you have the PCM programmed for the right size injectors, if your P59 is from a tahoe, it's got the wrong injector data in it. You also need to make sure you have a TAC module and throttle pedal compatible with your P59 and the Operating system it's running on, there are mutliple operating systems possible in the P59 pcm. You did delete VATS out of the PCM right? If it were me, I would go to the junkyard, and find a wire harness, tac module, throttle pedal, and pcm from an 03 to 06 vehicle that came from the factory with an LQ4 6.0. With all that mixing and matching, you've probably got incompatible electronic components. OR find someone really good with HP tuners who can change or modify the programming in the P59 to work with eveything you have.
