Part two in this series, what it takes to actually get the engine physically bolted into the truck! This whole conversion is intended to be done at as low a cost as possible to make it more accessible to anybody with basic mechanical and electrical skills, and the ability to use a google search!

Hi Jason, I appreciate all of the effort you put in to making these videos. I know it's a lot of work! I am currently in the process of transferring the engine, transmission and complete interior from a 2002 Suburban (totally wasted frame), into a 2001 Suburban (excellent frame). Since it appears you are doing the work all by yourself (as am I), it would be very helpful to see how you accomplish some of the various tasks (bolting the transmission to the engine, dropping in the engine back into the truck, etc.) without the assistance of a helper. I'm sure you must have developed some clever methods of efficiently and safely uninstalling and re-installing engines and transmissions. Again, thanks for the videos!

A cherry picker/engine hoist is your best friend when you work by yourself a lot like me. Also, do as much as you can when it's easy to access, bolt the engine and transmission together before you put them in the truck, transfer case also if it's 4 wheel drive. get as much of the wiring, accessories, etc swapped over as well where it's easy to access and compare. I remove and install engines and transmissions as a unit whenever possible. Good luck with your project, I do have some other videos with tips on how I do some things, search for Hawk Tips

Great stuff man if you cant all good i got a list of my parts AM I MISSING ANYTHING ?? Much respect for the information your giving out!!! I got a 05 4.3 single cab 2wd with donar 02 5.3 engine i got a 07 Express van PCM i believe its DBW compatible with programing (not sure) also 05 pedal with tac module, got 03 tahoe ntake manifold & 05 5.3 harness doesnt have GBCM & i dont remember if my 4.3 had it when i took it out so im kinda tempted to just add it incase it did have it anyway does my parts list look like it could run a functional swapped truck??

I believe you can get it to work with everything you have gathered together, you'll have to see if the van pcm has an OS compatible with your trucks BCM and the GBCM and double check that the truck harness is pinned the same as the van pcm at the pcm connectors.

Same v6 fuel lines? I heard and seen from other videos say that the v6 fuel lines don’t work for the v8 , im in the process of swapping mine 00 Silverado 4.3 donar truck is a 01 Silverado 5.3

your truck the fuel lines will be different from v6 to v8. The v6 and v8 trucks only use the same fuel line on the returnless style fuel system, I believe 04 and later.

Im about to swap my 2002 Chevy Silverado to a 6.0 lq9 and I’m not sure if my flex plate from that motor is gonna work on my 4l60e?? Also will I have to change the torque converter??

The LQ9 would have had a 4l65 or 4l70 behind it from the factory so as long as it still have the original flexplate it will match your 4l60. If you're keeping the engine stock, the stock torque converter will be fine. If you're planning changes to the engine like a cam or power adder of some kind you'll need a converter to match it.

What is the type/size tare he bracket to motor mount bolts? The three bolts? Do the v6 bolts all work for it?

the bolts are M10x1.5 thread with a 15mm head, the v6 bolts will fit just fine

I am currenty doing a 6.0 swap on my 2004 silverado 4.3 . Can i use my 6.0 flex plate if im running the 4L60? Or should i use my 4.3 flexolate?

If the 6.0 you're using had a 4l60e bolted to it before, yes you can use that flexplate that is on it. If it was bolted to a 4l80e before it won't work, you'll need to get a 4l60 flexplate.

What about the ground wires? Same from v6 to v8? Can I use the ground wires from the v6 for the new v8

The block ground to the battery negative is different. The block ground to the firewall is the same.

I’m doing a swap right now I have a 02 gmc Sierra 4.3 but bought a 03 escalde donor with 6.0 what would I need to make it work on mine?

That can be a very challenging swap. The least difficult and most diy approach will be to get a complete intake manifold, wire harness, and pcm, from a 99 to 02 2500, 2500hd, or 3500 pickup and use those parts with your escalade LQ9. If you don't want to do that, you'll need the complete engine harness and computer from the escalade, you'll need to get the throttle pedal, throttle pedal mounting bracket, and all pieces associated with the throttle pedal and put them into your truck. You'll also need to move some pins around and change the connectors in the c100 and c102 connectors under the fuse panel, May need to move a few pins in the c2 c9nnector as well. You'll need to remove vats from the pcm and you'll need an emulator for the pcm to communicate with the bcm and gauge cluster. The air conditioning systems are different also so you'll need to extend some wires and swap some sensors to get the air conditioning to work. Probably more that I'm forgetting also. Putting an 03 or later engine and electronics is a pain to get into an 02 or earlier truck, the electronics are all very different. If it were me, I'd use the LQ9 engine, sell as much of the rest of the escalade as possible, and get a harness, pcm, and intake from a 99 to 02 truck with a 6.0

No, your 03 6.0 is a drive by wire engine, 99 to 02 harness is for drive by cable. You would need to get a drive by cable throttle body and a 99 to 02 oil pressure sensor to use the 99 to 02 harness on your 03 engine.

Hey , I’m in search of a 6.0 ls for my 2000 Silverado and was wondering if I got a 2004 drive by wire and added a drive by cable intake and got a wiring harness for a 2000 v8 do you think that would work with all the sensors and PCM?

Hello! Yes, a 2004 6.0 with a 99 to 02 drive by cable intake would work just fine. You'll need to change the oil pressure sensor to a 99 to 02 oil pressure sensor also. Than it would be plug and play with a 2000 to 2002 wire harness. You'll have to get your stock PCM reprogrammed for the 6.0, or you can use a 99 to 02 6.0 pcm and have VATS removed.

If you want to do drive by cable, try to find a harness from an04 or 05 express van and the pcm to go with it. It will be drive by cable and have CANBUS communication capability.

@@gerardoojeda6396 eBay bought the whole 6.0 harness and everything out of a Yukon as long as it’s 03 and up don’t try to keep throttle cables you can’t use 99-02 harness it will all fit but the starter will constantly engage and it won’t work in 03 and up either

Would this be the same process with a 5.3? I have a donor 00 chevy Silverado with a 5.3 and 4x4 tranny. My 99 gmc sierra has a 4.3 with a 2wd tranny. Should just be plug in play right? Only thing I’ll be switching out is the transmission.

Yes, that would be a very plug and play swap, you'll need to disable VATS in the PCM but otherwise, drop it in, hook it up, and drive

@@MohawkMotorswhat is vats exactly I’ve heard more than once saying it won’t start unless I get it deleted. If I move over the whole v8 harness from the donor including the fuse box will this still cause it to not turn on?

@@marcialvega5488 VATS is Vehicle Anti Theft System. The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) asks for a code from the ignition module, the body control module, and the gauge cluster, if it doesn't get the correct code back, it won't run the engine, it'll just start and immediately shut back off. The higher the trim package of the vehicle, the more modules the PCM asks for the code. The only ways to defeat VATS are to deactivate it in the PCM using programming software like HP Tuners, or move every module from the donor vehicle to your swap vehicle.

So i Just got my 2003 Chevy Silverado swapped from v6 v8 amd it has a 2006 wiring harness and i have one problem my Head lights wont come on they worked wen it was v6 now i swapped it and the dont work any thoughts or anything

Which fuse panel did you use and which headlight harness did you use? I assume you kept the body harness original to the truck?
