It's time to build a custom w2a intercooler setup for the 2L-te Hilux Surf!
Now we've got a more power, the intake temps are REALLLLY becoming an issue - so lets fix them!
First port of call though, fabricating a nice stainless snorkel to kick off this new induction route!

Drilling the snorkel hole in my D22 did the same thing, yeh here looks good and punched the hole through then realized there was a structural support behind. Luckily could just miss it with a tighter than 90 degree bend coming into the guard. Always great to see someone else who likes making everything them self.

Any update on the WTA ? Thinking of doing the same but worried about heat soaked long drives. Have you had any issues with it getting hot to the point a air to air would have been better

The Hilux models with AC of the same generation (LN106 etc) don't have that additional fan in front of the rad. I thought only the auto Surf's had it to help with the auto cooler running through the rad. Could probably just get rid of it.

Hey mate. I'm making plans to covert my 1994 toyota 4 runner. Main thing I wanna do is swap out the 3.0L 6 cylinder to the 1kz-te diesel. Since the 4runner and the Hilux surf are the same exact vehicles. I'm wondering if there are manuals over there down under in English like the haynes automotive manuals for the surf. This way I can read up on the subtle mechanical differences between the 4runner and surf. If you know of any could you tell me so I can buy them?

Weird, my surf had a bunch of electrical issues. I had the EXACT same bodge on the main fuse box feed. Taped up cable and an improperly crimped wire. I was seeing a 1V drop. Fixed it properly and issues went away,

My surf had the exact same thing done to the main feed to the fuse box too. Perhaps Mr Toyota swapped the terminals around? 🤷‍♂️

I’ve imported a ‘94 from England and have nowhere stateside to find parts. I love your channel and am thankful for all the help your videos have given me.

Wow is that for real!?😮 Not too sure of anyone that offers an off the shelf option for a 1kz cooler. The 1kz landcruiser Prado over here comes with a factory top mount intercooler. It's not that crash hot bit it's something I guess🤷‍♂️ most stuff would have to be custom. Turbo is easy enough, there's a few options there. We're actually working on retrofitting a 1kd VNT turbo to Ben's 1kz Prado and my 2lte surf. The 1kd exhaust manifold will bolt on to the 1kz which is great. Ben is working on a VNT controller for the conversion too. If you need parts I could source and send to you if you have no luck. I've got an account with DHL so can get stuff to you at a good price and quickly too

@@Bentallica We have high flowed turbos with a larger diameter billet compressor wheel. As for aftermarket kits, I'm not sure. As the body of the car is slot different to fitment may be an issue. Might have to do some googling. So is yours still right hand drive?

It is. It’s a Japan market car that someone took to England. A mate of mine in the Air Force is scammed Uncle Sam into shipping it to to the states for me. Most parts I can sub with US 4Runner but the KZ is another story. I’m inspired by your videos though, you’ve shown me that you can make it happen even if you can pull the part right off the shelf. Now get off your arse with a turbo vid 🤪

Nice work but way too much piping
