V8 Ford Ranger 5.0 302 build explained 2009

I've been working on this build a little bit here and there for the past year and a half. Here's my build thread on the ranger station, I'll be posting some more details there as well. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about doing a similar build to a newer ranger like this. Info for the early 2000s ones or older is already available on the forums and a lot of it is more straightforward and different than my experience has been here

Beautiful truck! You'd almost have to be a mechanic to own it just to understand how to maintain it! Lol Although I wish you would've documented the whole process by video, I appreciate your sharing the info with the world, so thank you for this vid. Next step - grab a supercharger off an old Thunderbird! Hope your next video doesn't take 12 years!

@@flyinhawaiian9174 Thanks! The weirdest things about it at this point are all of the parts that are from a different vehicle than what it looks like, and the non-factory wiring harness. If I have electrical issues, a different mechanic would definitely have a hard time without understanding the way it's put together, and you've gotta look up parts for a 2000 explorer if it's anything drivetrain related. Otherwise, the truck is simpler now than the way it came from the factory if anything. Anything in particular you'd like to see more info about? Would've been cool to document the whole process for sure.

@AlexBarker11 Tried to answer you the other day. Included a link to a website & the comment got deleted. It's not the first time that's happened. I think Google does it, but I don't know why. Anyway, what did you do exactly for motor mounts? Did you mod Explorer mounts or use aftermarket? I had a brief question on the wiring, but upon reflection I realized that I don't need an answer lol.

@@flyinhawaiian9174 I actually just bolted in new replacement explorer motor mounts. I slotted the flat plate mounts (engine side) but that ended up not being necessary because the engine didn't need any adjustment left to right

Nice build. I've always liked the 4x4 v8 swaps and wanted to do one but got lazy and wanted a 5 speed 5.0 ranger 2wd and went that rout check out my swap on my channel

@@joshsiebert7657 Yeah I wouldn't mind having one like that, would be nice and light and might actually be kinda fast. Mine is respectable but definitely not impressive when it comes to acceleration. The 31.5" tires certainly don't do me any favors for acceleration or mpg.
