I did something similar to what you did with the hose in a previous S10 build. Instead of running hose all the way to the bottom of the tank, I made a long hard tube that would reach the bottom of the tank and bent a 90 on the end. I pointed the tube towards the back of the tank so when I accelerated and the fuel ran to the back of the tank the tube was always submerged in gas. I connected the hard line I made with the same fuel line that you used. I connected them with 100% stainless hose clamps so that they wouldn’t rust in the tank. Good videos.

Did you ever have any problems from that kind of fuel setup? I wondered that myself if it's straight down and there's low fuel is it not going to pick up anything if it's at the back of the tank

@@304customsgarage No problems at all. I sold the truck to a friend years ago and he still drag races the truck today with the same set up.

That makes me feel better about the setup, thanks for the reply! I have a fuel cell also that came with another future channel project that I considered using in this truck but think I'll rock the stock gas tank for now.

@@304customsgarage yeah I am building a 92 with and LS on my channel and went back and forth on a fuel cell and I also decided to go with the factory tank for now. In tank pump with fittings on the factory assembly. May change it later, but I need to stop adding ideas and get it back together rather than keep taking it apart thinking …well while I’m here I’ll go ahead and do this now. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about. LOL.

Yes I do indeed know what you're talking about, I do that often myself

Great video , I am going to do the same idea . My motor is mostly stock with a small cam , did you modify your transmission cross member or did you get a aftermarket cross member
@304customsgarage Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I did use an aftermarket crossmember for transmission. The one I used was a summit brand (looks identical to the GForce one)

I saved this video to my likes and watched it again , when you installed the 3/8 submersible fuel line to the old pump how were the results? Cheers

I haven't actually got to use it yet and have been on a little hiatus here lately with the s10. Plan to get back into the project soon though.

Question. I know for example the 1984 S10 had a carb not fuel injection. Do you think the sending unit from a 84 would fit the tank of a 92 S10? This way no hose mod inside the tank? Your thoughts?
@304customsgarage2 жыл бұрын
I'm honestly not sure if it fit would or not. If it did to me that's better than the fuel submersible draw straw hose style pickup I put in my tank.
@wreckanchor2 жыл бұрын
@@304customsgarage I was able to install a 1982 to 1984 carburated sending unit / pickup. Was a part number FG16A

Thanks! I'll add it to my notes should my rigged up pick up fail me.

What do you install on all the other line coming out of sending unit or do you just knave them open?
@nashvilleoutlaw5 ай бұрын
Wouldn't the fuel sending unit from an 83 1.9l s10 fit that tank? My truck had an external fuel pump.
@304customsgarage4 ай бұрын
i dont honestly know the answer to that if it would or wouldn't

Yes I'm also running a carb

Dude! you spent a fortune , push lock hose and fittings would have worked just as good and looked clean too.

Just reclock your mech fuel pump. Will save you lots of trouble.
