Cool. I have a 94 B4000 4X4 , blown 4.0, just got an 01 Explorer 5.0 wreck that was impounded, to pick any parts free, so I took the engine, trans, t-case, drive shafts, fuse box, instrument cluster and power distribution box, PCM, steering column, shift cable, and exhaust. My buddy has an M50D with the 5.0 bellhousing he said I can have. I kinda want the 5 speed, but I kinda want the auto, too.
@fixinonitgarage9 ай бұрын
If you plan on using the Explorer PCM it's easier to go auto and keep the four-wheel drive if you want the five-speed you have to get the PCM reprogrammed or get one for an F150 5.0 with the five speed.
@jamesgeorge48749 ай бұрын
@@fixinonitgarage Thanks, I have HPTuners MPVI 2, not sure if it's supported, because it's been a while, and I was on the fence about the Explorer PCM and VATS, I would prefer it not have it, but that's for later....

I love your build. Looks stock instead of obnoxious. Im buying a 94/95 f150 with a 5.0 and a bad auto transmission. Im debating with rebuilding the automatic but i think it would be cheaper, funner and easier to use a m5od from the v6 f150. I bet its a nice cruiser
@fixinonitgarage2 күн бұрын
Thanks, the goal was to make it look like everything belongs, even with a carb. It is a solid little cruiser. The 3.55 gears with a locker made it much more manageable in 1st gear too. The original 4.11 were just a tickle too much. ITts my old lady's truck and is back in use as her daily driver.

I’m doing the same style swap on my 08 I have a 86 Explorer 302 that I converted to carb since wiring was gonna be a bitch and i didn’t want to get into that I’m running a cheap knockoff edelbrock airgap intake and for carb I’m running the 600cfm 1406 edelbrock and same year transmission as your but I the truck practically runs now using a cheap 6psi edelbrock pump ans jerry can I have sitting in the engine bay but since I guess according to what I’ve read I got the wrong pressure plate clutch and slave I got it all for a 1995 Ford f150 5.0 and I’ve bled the system tons of times and nothing now from what I’ve been told if you have a 10th gen f150 M5R2 from the 4.2 and it’s a 97 or 98 you have to run like a 89 to 91 F150 5.0 clutch slave and pressure plate I wanted to ask you practically is that what you did?
@fixinonitgarage Жыл бұрын
For the clutch everything I ran was from A 95 F150 with a 5.0 you have to make sure that the throw out bearing is the same style as your Clutch master cylinder otherwise it will not work period I did have a mismatch of my parts and had to remove it and change the slave cylinder
@Suelo_Ranger Жыл бұрын
And for fuel system I was gonna also ask what exact pump did you use? And since for my year on the original 2.3 Duratec she had it was a single fuel line so would I have to run a return of some sort or could I just pump gas from the tank through the stock line that runs up around the fire wall?
@fixinonitgarage Жыл бұрын
I used to pump from A 90 F150 in tank low PSI lift pumps. I was able to reuse the factory fuel lines I just bought some new nylon line and changed the adapters at the end so that I could plumb in a regulator

Please explain more about the radiator location. I also live in AZ and have a 91 Explorer. The only thingS stopping me from doing a 5.0 conversion is wanting to keep the mechanical fan, having the radiator in the stock location, and keeping the AC. What did you use for motor mounts? Are they the ones that allow for adjustment toward the firewall?
@fixinonitgarageАй бұрын
@@AwesomeBuford I used 95 mustang motor mounts. Had to drill my own hole into the crossmember to mount them where I wanted but it gave me enough room for the mechanical fan. I did have to cut out the bottom edge of the radiator support so that I could suck the radiator in a couple of inches. It sits underneath the radiator support rather than behind it.

You should do a write up and put it on the ranger station. I see lotsa guides with different choices but a simple guide with what you used exactly would be appreciated. Im thinking of picking up another 94 bseries and would love to do something similar though instead of getting a manual 4x4 i would get the auto for better towing capacity
@fixinonitgarage10 ай бұрын
The ranger station info is all over the place. Not much to be found for the 94-95. I don't wanna take the time to document it all, just to have it get lost in the noise. These videos are easier to assemble and help the visual folks more. If there's anything specific you're interested in let me know and I'll make a video on it
@dr_tal10 ай бұрын
@@fixinonitgarage yea I noticed that about the ranger station but it's where everyone links to. Though there is a V8 swapped group on FB that might be easier to make a visual guide on. The only thing I would ask is if there could be a more detailed list of parts used/ price for everything you used/ modified Like I see u were able to get the AC working and wiring work is always nice to see explained. I'm basically working between picking up another 94 bseries and doing this swap. Or picking up an 03 b2300 and 2.5 duratec turbo swapping it. I need another truck, my original 94 b4000 5sp got hit by some kid and got totaled so I have been getting the urge to get another truck and with my speed6 about to be done another project is in the works.
@fixinonitgarage10 ай бұрын
@@dr_tal I'm a mod in one of those groups and do what i can to help out. I'll look into a more in depth look at the AC. I wrote the parts lists out once when people were disputing the costs, not sure If I still have it. It's a akin to saving the wife's Starbucks receipts. It's just around $5k in parts if you acquire them rather than using a donor. Where I live there is no such thing as a $1k runner cause nothing rusts in the desert

@hunterbise I wouldn't stop you. The 94-95 swaps aren't as documented as the others. I found several hang ups. You can get the tach to work by snagging one from a truck or van with a Vin but it has to be a 94-95
