Brilliant idea! So stealing this... @3:30 The sheet metal aluminum it's mounted to also acts as a heat sink to cool the panel. Overheating is an issue with flexible panels glued to roofs.

Hi Chris. I’ve been following you for at least six months. I went back and watched all the episodes and now follow week to week. My dream was to retire, then travel the country with my wife. But a diagnosis of ALS has changed those plans. I’ll now live vicariously as you wind your way through North America. For as long as I can. I’m a journalist...radio, tv, print, digital. Your photography has improved so much, and I know how difficult it is to set up many of your shots. Well done. Love your Hillary quote. That’s what I’m living by these days. Be careful, be well, be safe. BR

Hey Chris- I’m sure you won’t see this, but wanted to say thanks so much for doing the gear review. I think this one (and others!) are perfect for the current environment we’re in. I’ve watched all of your videos (most more than once) and enjoy them immensely. So glad you chose to go over suspension first. I’ve been struggling, struggling, struggling with my lift decision. I’ve talked to several shops and everyone has a different opinion. The install shops seem to always guide me toward the manufacturers that they resell, and of course, members of our community have their varying opinions too. Replace control arms, install steering stabilizer, skip the drop kits, and on and on and on. It’s dizzying to say the least. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Super, super valuable. Keeps the vids coming. I look forward to them every week.

Very cool video Chris. I think everyone likes the Jeep and equipment reviews interspersed with your other videos. May we request additional equipment reviews from you in the future? You are using everything on a daily basis and the equipment is really being tested. I have already purchased some of the gear you use because I know it works and I trust you opinion. Best of luck with your adventures and maintain social distancing, lol.

Hi Chris, great video. On the bright side this video included a couple of nice places, the desert setting to start and your friends townhouse. You gave us some good info on the jeep and accessories. It also included a different kind of experience than we're used to, but hey it's all part of the adventure right? We all are going through a time in our lives that we have never experienced before so thank you for sharing how you are dealing with this. Look forward to better days to come. Godspeed!

I began watching in January 2019; and you became my wife's and my late-Saturday-night-date-date-at-home as we looked forward to sharing your adventure each week. Since your videos have had to become less frequent, we have taken the opportunity to work our way back through your previous - not yet seen by us - videos; and we have enjoyed every minute of those, too! All the best to you...RJ & JJ By the way, we just watched July 14 - July 21, 2017!

At 11:35 you can see the common Cholla cactus stuck to his shock. These are everywhere in the desert here. They have needle sharp spines and will go right through leather gloves. The only way to remove them is either a needle nose or a comb. When your dog gets into them they get really cranky.

Chris, stay safe. You have inspired me to start to lift my Jeep, start my overland/camping jku set up, and want to explore more off road then on road. I am from WV and after the army moved to Northern Kentucky near Cincinnati due to job reasons. Watching your earlier vlogs and seeing how you explore northern WV has made me rethink life. For 18 years I played off road and have barely scratched the surface of WV. Now I am always trying to find a way off road and less pavement. Stay safe and stay healthy. Have you ever considered doing a TAT ( trans American trail ) tour from east to west. I would love to join you sometime, even if it’s a weekend off-road camp out. You should never trade in or sell your Jeep. If ever needed place a new motor and trans and keep going til the body falls off. Your a true Jeep guy, I could never see you in anything but a Jeep.. maybe a JLU or the gladiator, but stay true to the Jeep, you know it inside and out, and know what it can do. Jeep wave to you Chris, thank you for my new inspiration to follow in your Jeep tracks you have laid out for all us. Be safe

Thanks for the details on your jeep. I found it quite interesting. I drive a 05 Durango and have the stock suspension my only real adds area 2.5 in lift and i run the cooper ap tires in 245/17 on stock rims. These tires have been several thousand miles now both on and offroad. They have a pretty agressive tread pattern that as they wear they hhave that hum when on the highway. Stay safe and take care. Wash your hands lol c-ya

Glad you found a place to hole up. Perhaps in your next video you could give each state a list of “places they should check out when the quarantine ends” I could imagine people in Pennsylvania who have never taken a moment to leave their doors not realizing what amazing things are outside. People in Arizona, same thing. It would give them something to look forward to and in some cases, a place that’s close by that they could “shelter in place inside the vehicle“ and go check out

I know I have commented before but there you go again with the ketchup on a hot dog, have ever tried mustard on one. I think you are just doing that to see if we are paying attention. Lol Love your Jeep. While it appears stock it's equipped with all the essentials, from the undercarriage to the 'overlanding' equipment above. I've been think of up grading from my low miles 94 Wrangler which is pretty well set up , winch, slight lift, tires'n wheels and few other mods, to a newer 4 dr. (Oh I guess you only have check my tag picture) While everything on my Jeep is in excellent shape, I would take it anywhere, I'm looking for more highway comfort and room for gear. I commented the last time you brought up those BFG tires I'm not a fan, I've seen too many failures on the logging roads here in the Pacific NW. My son lost 3 on his pickup alone. I see yours are the new generation K2's they might be better but I prefer Dick Cepek Fun Country's, a little more aggressive, better mileage and less money to start. Thanks for the 'walk around ' really cool , yeah I have Jeep envy.

Chris, after seeing the underside of your Jeep and having seen the engine bay on previous episodes I urge you to discover the joy that is Fluid Film and tire cleaners, not tire shine. The Fluid Film you use anywhere you want but primarily on metal. The tire CLEANER you use in your engine bay. Armor All and Simonize both have a tire cleaner, not tire shine. With both you just hose down the area, both are safe on metal, rubber, plastic, fiberglass, whatever.
