I was diagnosed with REACTIVE HYPOGLYCEMIA in service, which can only be diagnosed via a 3 - 5 hr GTT. My blood sugars dropped into the 30s after drinking the glucose. Basically my pancreas puts out too much insulin if I eat too many carbs, which in turn bottoms me out. Claimed it when I retired and they denied it. They only gave me the standard A1C bloodwork which wont detect it. Have a current diagnosis and they still keep denying. What are your thoughts on a CUE claim for this? I should have gotten 10%, 21 yrs ago as I have to regulate my diet and it causes me all kinds of issues. Thank you.

can you talk about atorvastatin and is it a med that can cause diabetic issues in people? also, i suffer with high a1c numbers, and Erectile Disfunction, how does this happen from atorvastatin? i am a Vietnam era vet, started atorvastatin in 2005, took it till 2017, when i found out it causes type 2 diabetic response, i told my VA doc that they needed a new med.. Does this count as a presumptive issue?
@evilload Жыл бұрын
You would have to find proof that your diabetes was directly caused by you medication. This is not a presumptive issues unless you were in presumptive area and time frame for AO exposure.

Rated at 20% many years ago. Was told by the VA I was in an area close to the DMZ in Vietnam where the heaviest use of AO was used. Started out on minimum meds and over the years I am now on 2000mg metformin, empagliflozin and Trulicity injections. Does that warrant a disability increase? I'm on 50 % ,and had heart work in the VA hospital in Atlanta. and later it was considered from the Agent orange . I live in the Philippines and get a yearly check up at the VA in Manila. the last visit Nov,2023 I was told I've type 2 Diabetes I assume because I don't take shots. The Dr. said it come from the heart surgery and that I should see to raising my % percentage compensation . But I've been told I have to redo my complete evaluation all over again. I'm afraid to do that because I think maybe I loose % percentage instead trying to gain a certain % percentage. Anyway because of my past heart stents put in and the Dr. here in the VA in the Philippines saying the Diabetes is the results of that surgery. Please school me on this or can you help in telling me what I should do or could do? Thank you James Copeland

I am confused, according to this video, a 40% requires insulin, restrictive diet and regulation of activities, if the doctor says you shouldn’t be exercising because it could decrease your blood sugar levels, or that you should be that you need to have a certain regimen that would warrant a 40% rating. Under the M21.1 it says the term regulation of activities is defined parenthetically to mean the requirement of “avoidance of strenuous occupational and recreational activities.”. “In turn this must be understood as meaning that the avoidance is required to help control blood sugar.”. So are you saying any activity ? This contradicts the strenuous activity in the M21.1.

Some times it not the fact that the driver on the left is trying to pass, but he is just trying to maintain his power. If he stays behind the truck on the right, then he would be following that truck to close and his computer would be warning him to back off you’re following to close. So as not to give up the little power he has, they go to the left lane even if they know they can’t actually pass the other truck. But when they see other trucks coming up fast, they should back off and get back behind the truck on the right and let the faster trucks get by. Obviously no one wants to give up the little power they have, but also don’t want to get a ticket for following to close. That’s why they do that. Just like the driver that has all the power to go as fast as he want, he gets piss when he has to slow down, even when he’s driving way over the speed limit. I think this is one of the reason this happens all the time. What I do, is flash my lights at that driver, back off to give him the room to back off and get back behind the truck on the right. Then fly by them. I do know that some dumb ass driver still won’t move back over, but tailgating them won’t make their truck go any faster. You just got to chil out until you get the room to pass.

Can I still apply for presumptive if I just now have been introduced to all this the CID officers lied to me after I made them look bad for reporting credit card abuse, firearms missing, no key control in armory and evidence room. I deadlined 53 of the 55 military cut ves I had a unit that had to be mission ready in 72 hour notice. They could be so I had to order 53 brand-new hummers and they were sent from 6 different army bases in order to make the unit mission ready. They were pissed, I was a private first class working as a motor Sergent, armor,key control custodian,evidence locker room controlled, ect. They were officers NOT military, they never had formations, never wore BDU's. And chaptered me out under a chapter 13 alcohol rehab failure. They had me volunteer to the alcohol program ran by the drug taskforce Sergent ran. After two meetings she said I was a failure and they told me at 11am that I was being chaptered out 3 hours later I was no longer army.... by the way the same first Sergent that done this knew me for a year in Korea and never told me he was Cid or a first Sergent, he was just Gary a bad mean drunk. Who was under investigation for a girls disappearance in Korea she was air force. They found her dead. They eventually blamed her commander he was sleeping with her too. Along with Gary. Both were married and she was 20. They in the later 30's. I was sorta dating her too, just when were ran into each other but thats why they drug me into their investigation. But when she was found they determined she had been shot and their was no way for me to be able too have gotten a gun in Korea but her commander did and they found the weapon in airforce armory in his unit.

You know what, this is our taxpayer dollars and should be spent wisely. A HUGE percentage of type II diabetes is due to a diet high in carbohydrates and over feeding resulting in obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, and multiple secondary diseases. Even if exposed to agent orange, the prevalence of developing diabetes type II is more common in the obese population. I have several military friends who served their 2 years, have worked and are well off financially, retired and became obese. Consequently, they developed type II diabetes and blame the military and are now receiving compensation. DM is not a progressive disease but rather one that can generally be reversed by changing your diet and lifestyle. But, it's easier to sit on the couch in front of TV and use their VA compensation to buy and consume processed foods.
