The Bed of Chaos is a womb. The tunnel you go down to reach the fight is the vaginal canal. The two orbs on either side are the ovaries, and between them, where you would find the uterus is the boss, which within holds the fetus, the deformed demon you kill. Lost Izalith is just an area all about women and their anatomy, the witches if you would.

I would say it just is lava, and not everything is metaphorical. However, if I'm wrong it could be menstruation? Here me out, Ceaseless DIscharge is a being made of fire and lava, and as it's name implies, it is in fact discharge. Maybe the incomplete dragons which reside in Lost Izalith are like the discarded incomplete ovum which comes with menstruation. They are half-beings, much akin to what a discarded unfertilized egg would be, an incomplete human. Maybe they are representative of the incompleteness of life which arises from menstruation. Again, this seems rather far fetches and slightly disgusting so I wouldn't believe it, but if the metaphor I suggested about it Lost Izalith representing women, it makes sense. A woman and all her daughters without men would have quite a few menstrual cycles.

This pretty much confirms that the ultimate villain and antagonist in the series is actually Gwyn himself. I mean the man locked away his own daughter and a civilization of hollows in the Ringed City, waged war on Demons whom were misunderstood, allowed Seth to do horrible things to Fire Keepers and experiment on saints ... like, the dude's the top @$$hole to make Pontiff blush. The more we learn about Gwyn the more he comes off as a dictator whom feared humans and did everything he could to keep his status and keep the time of gods present, even branding his own followers who helped fight the dragons the dark sign. Like, wow ....

Because i'm reading a ton of the same comment stating "The robes upon the Altar may not have been Quelana's". Please note that the Gold-hemmed set you find there literally reads: "Worn by the witch Quelana of Izalith, mother of pyromancy and Daughter of Chaos". Of course, their appearance here doesn't prove that she faked her death to escape - but I challenge you to come up with another explanation for a corpse dressed in her robes.

We already know that other sisters wore Gold Hemmed (the invader before the bed of chaos boss fog) I don't think it would make any sense for that set to be quelana's. If you're assuming the corpse Ceaseless discharge is guarding is *not* a daughter of chaos separate from Quelana, then there are suddenly only 6 daughters of chaos present in-game, one unaccounted for... which seems like an oddly arbitrary omission of detail. When Miyazaki says Ceaseless discharge was "born" when the fire was still unstable, I think he means "Ceaseless Discharge" was born during that time. Not the humanoid brother he use to be. The "birth" of demons is described this way several times throughout Dark Souls. The brother existed prior to the chaos, which is where his connection to the unnamed dead daughter of chaos came from. Honestly saying Quelana faked her death is quite a leap.

So everybody talked about how Anor Londo reappears in ds3 but nobody seems to talk about the demon ruins and all the izalith related stuff found there. Is there ever going to be an in-depth video on the demon ruins from ds3? Does it allready exist and I've overlooked it? There are a few questions I'd like to get answers to like: 'Are the demon ruins what is left of izalith?', 'Why are the ruins next to the Smouldering Lake?' 'Why is the ODK boss arena outside and not behind the demon ruins?' And lastly: Is there a reason for the lake-ruins area to be connected to the catacombs of carthus and if so why?

He allied with dragons. But it likely didn’t happen during the Great War against them, since he left a parting gift on his father’s gravesite, which means it was after Gwynn left to burn in the kiln, or that he wasn’t in exile but left of his own accord, or that he returned when he heard of his fathers fate. At the top of the dragonkin city in dark souls 3, the corpse of an ancient dragon can be seen sprawled across a distant mountain, I think the sight of this is the cause of his rebellion. Now why he left Anor Londo I’m unsure of. I’m tempted to say he left during the course of the war on Izalith

@@fukaton4024 I don’t think he did before he linked the fire. The miracle you can get from Gwyn’s grave was designed by his firstborn. Almost like a parting gift. I think he was regretful of their actions during the Great War, and he left on a pilgrimage, ending finally at Archdragon peak. Where an altar is set at the top of the mountain, from which the corpse of an ancient dragon still sits, unrotting.

I have always thought the demons were misunderstood. The anguish the last demon King portrays in his battle, the way the dried up demon screams and still can't summon fire. The last black knight locked in combat with the hidden demon in DS3. To me, another one of gywns control methods. Let everyone fight each other while he keeps the dark soul secret.

9:50 that’s not quelana’s robes. It was the robes of one of the other sisters of chaos. There were 7 in total as was seen in the cutscene at the beginning of the game. 2 fused with the bed of chaos, two were fused into spider monsters, and two were left alive and seemingly intact (quelana and the sister of chaos we fight right before the Bed of Chaos boss battle). The last sister is the one we find on the altar.

The clothes on that altar are not necessarily Quelana's specifically, as all the witches wore that set of clothing. It does mention her in the description, but I don't think we should forget that the Elite Knight set we find in the Darkroot Garden mentions Oscar, despite the fact it cannot be his. Also just because Ceaseless Discharge was born when the chaos was unstable doesn't mean he had to be the first demon. Edit: All bosses drop humanity; this doesn't have any lore impact on the Capra Demon or Taurus Demon, and the other Capra and Taurus demons never drop humanity.

So the Ivory King lacked the knowledge of the Izalith runes (or primal fire magics), which could not allow him to bind and control the chaos. The witches were able to, but were deformed either as preparation for such a spell or as a side effect of their bodies adapting to having to contain such power. So he used his soul as water, to try to contain its might with brute force, but he ended up hollow once he ran out. Even Alsanna's barrier could be seen in the light of containing chaos via raw strength (the ice).

That was the assumption for a while I believe. And I'm not exactly convinced it's changed. The robes are worn by all members of the Witches on Izalith, including the still human one guarding the bed of chaos. It's not specifically Quelana's robes we find.

Yeah, that's where he definitely overreaches. There were 7 Daughters of Chaos (you can see them in the intro at 2:00), and unless the corpse on the altar that Ceaseless Discharge watches over is one of them, there's one left unaccounted for. Quelaag, the Fair Lady, Quelana, the witch who guards the entrance to the Bed of Chaos, the two who were swept up in the creation of the Bed, and the corpse on the altar makes all of them.

Most of the Armor that seems to have the description 'worn by' as opposed to 'X of X' (eg. Helm of Hawkeye Gough, one of Gwyn's Four Knights.) seems to be for generic sets, like the ones you start the game with and some enemy sets like that of the Painting Guardians. There was one noticeable exception I could find though in the Xanthous set which also included the word 'once' in its description (A mysterious item once worn by the Xanthous King Jeremiah, the legendary exile. No one knows where it came from.) but it is also full of possessive pronouns (It may be tattered, but /its/ bright yellow color still stings the eyes. etc) which leads me to believe it was intended as specifically his armor. Two particular details stand out about the Gold-Hemmed Black Set though that make me think it is intended to be read as a more generic set than a specific one though. The first being that instead of the possessive pronoun the description of all the pieces uses the full name of each set piece to describe it, which also seems to be an oddity among most Item descriptions but also seems less personal than the Xanthous sets description of each specific piece of armor. The other is the sheer length of the attribution: "Worn by the witch Quelana of Izalith, mother of pyromancy and Daughter of Chaos." which based on some of the details from your video makes me think there may be some translation ambiguity present in the description, like it was worn by each of them and not specifically her. That may be conjecture, but I would definitely like to see someone else's crack at the translation for this item, as this may all be inconsistencies in the grammar and template for the Localization team. Aside from Item descriptions though I don't think her faking her death really supports your theory. The fact that the body is eternally watched over by Ceaseless suggests more that he laid it there for safekeeping, and to protect it past the long ridge leading up to it within his reach since leaving that area causes him to fall to his death as is a common way to cheese the fight. He allows you to safely get close because you aren't a demon, and he possibly thinks you are just a Chaos Servant who serve his family in developing the Chaos arts, making him lash out when you then betray that thought and defile the corpse. Quelaag and Quelaan are both served by these Chaos Servants who are present at the beginning of Lost Izalith, and while you could argue they are both close enough to protect their servants from the Demons that could easily explain Quelana's escape as well, along with an intelligent and civilized organization formed around chaos that is only just barley being pushed out of the Demons territory by the time you reach it.

what i always liked with the boss being called "bed of chaos" was how it can be interpreted as "that where chaos sleeps" making it in the name, the witches put chaos to sleep and got it under control and then when we kill both the left and right sides chaos is unleashed and Izalith tries to hold control on her own but in the end its futile

This reinforces my belief that Chaos is simply what Gwen (and by extension, the majority of Gods and humanity) called it. The demons stood against Gwen's vision or order, and were therefore branded as Chaos, though the name doesn't really fit. Even Chaos Fire is simply fire magic that is more closely tied to the faction labeled Chaos, and not actually chaotic in nature.
