hammerheads aren't actually as dangerous as some would believe and they get scared of the bubbles from scuba masks. great hammerheads (the largest species of hammerhead) can be dangerous, though there are few recorded attacks. they can be quite inquisitive towards divers though only attack if provoked or if they mistake people for an injured seal. hammerheads as a whole tend to be extremely shy and would rather just leave you alone they also have some of the best electroreceptors of sharks which may be the reason for their strange head shape. all hammerhead's population is decreasing, with 5/9 species being labelled as critically endangered, 2 as endangered and the last two as vulnerable. so sad to see these beautiful, ancient animals being killed demonized :'(
