I've found that often, unless someone is currently living in a Great Lakes state or grew up close to a Great Lake, they have no concept of how big the Great Lakes actually are. They are more like inland seas. Not only are there beaches, but some of the beaches along the Great Lakes are just as good as the ones in Florida or California. They have currents and can sometimes have big waves. Wait until Nick finds out people surf on the Great Lakes too...

Today I learned: Motel does not stand for Mini Hotel. “Motel” is a shortening of “motor hotel.” It's a hotel built to allow you to park right at your room door, at least if you're on the ground floor, rather than having to go in by the front desk and down corridors. If you go inside first and then find your room, it's a hotel.

To be fair, New Yorkers see Philly as a day trip, but we are used to running around. I'm a nerd so I enjoyed it 🤓.

I drove cross country with my parents during the 60s as an only child. My dad did business trips and these were also our 'vacations' with our cat. We lived in NYC so I generally found it quite amusing except when the car broke down in weird little towns for days or when my cat would run across the hall into someone else's room in the hotel. I would amuse myself with the 25 cent vibrating bed or the ice machine down the hall and I am grateful that I was never murdered by any of the hotel babysitters. Before my mom died she would tell me that she still couldn't believe that we dragged our cat along on those trips! It is quite unbelievable! 😅

I just gotta say, 15 minutes of you two isn't enough. You guys are incredible together. Have you ever considered an hour, or at least a half maybe?

I feel like I am fond of Nick because I can teach him History & Geography and I love Matteo because I could listen spout fun facts and fun stories.

I gasped grom excitement when I heard Nick say "Drink your juice Shelby", because the last thing I would expect to hear someone say when talking about vacations in the quote from Steele Magnolias. Iconic. 😂

I'm late and binging this pod now, but Nick's blouse game is always in point. What style and grace!

The amount of times I’ve just screeched out “Rrrrawcks! Of Rrawcks!” My dogs think I’ve lost my mind. I listen to this nearly every day just to laugh.
