Watching that Kirby take off like that reminds me of some Adventures with Bill clips from the Red Green Show where they start gas chainsaws and the saws take off into the woods. I didn't watch through the whole video, but it just made me laugh.

Good video. Just stripped and rebuilt the gearbox in my 240v G5, Greased those wee slide bearings, Needle bearings on rotating parts, Even the 4 thrust bearings taking great care not to get any on the clutch material. And oiled pretty much everywhere that's metal to metal. End result is much smoother and quieter than before.

I suggest experimenting with gun oil for corrosion resistance. It can be applied in an extremely thin film and is designed to protect for long term storage. I use it on anything that I don’t want to disassemble regularly.
@VacLab3 жыл бұрын
Gun oil or any oil will need to be re-applied more often than Mobil EMB grease, which would last for more than a decade.
@wrecksandtech3 жыл бұрын
VacLab I was referring to use along side the grease. You coated parts in wd-40 before applying grease. Wd-40 will dry up in a day. The gun oil would go on the surfaces exposed to air along with grease on the bearings.
@mattjones76216 жыл бұрын
You were right about the grease, Bill, it was quite an improvement. I serviced my Diamond Edition, today, and used automotive and wheel bearing grease. While I was in it, I adjusted the handle pivot assembly as well.

Greasing the springs of the black handle receiver assembly is mentioned at 24:48. How is the assembly disassembled? Is the snap ring removed and the pin driven out?
@VacLab6 жыл бұрын
To lubricate the handle spring assembly, simply spray in WD40 or apply 3-in-1 oil and move the handle fully until the squeaking stops. Lasts for years.
@jheissjr6 жыл бұрын
It looks like the assembly cannot be disassembler further after taking a second look. The springs are much too strong to put back in by hand. Thanks!

Glad you made this video, Bill, because I am considering using grease next time I service my Diamond Edition. I have done a lot of trial and error when it comes to those transmissions. They will be smooth for awhile, but then return to bucking and whatnot.

I tried your preferences years ago and within a year, the improvements faded away along with the lubricants. Wheel bearing grease is much better and lasts years longer.

Great video, thank you so very much. Ha, I should send you a pic of what my G3 looked like inside when I took it apart to replace the trans. If it was a car I'd say it looked like it got pulled from the bottom of a lake. Needed a 2nd vacuum and my shop air gun to get that much dust and dirt out. Anyhow, what did you use to polish the motor??? P.S. Previous poster mentioned you need to polish that G3...I polished every chrome part of mine TWICE with #3 steel wool and Mother's metal polish and it looks comparatively amazing now but still worse than the video one. :D

Hello, Can you tell me why my Sentrina make a chattering noise going back and forth with drive engagement. It doesn't do it constantly only when it starts to move forward or backward. Thanks.
@VacLab5 жыл бұрын
If your noise sounds like a metallic clicking, it's probably the drive pedal. It may need replacing. If you mean your Sentria stutters on the carpet, that could mean other issues from a stretched drive belt to a worn transmission. If you could post a video of the issue, that would help greatly.
@harryberry4745 жыл бұрын
@@VacLab ...Not sure how to post video here. Easiest (and cheapest) to check the drive belt first I guess. What do I look for if the drive belt needs replacement? Are the clogs worn and or is belt stretched? Thanks for the quick reply. :)
