Little bit of sliced carrots in a pan cooked, drain 99% of the water, some butter and brown sugar mmmm "candied carrots" !!! I never blanche veggies but that's because they're only in there less than a month i'd blanche for long term storage though!! Hoping to invest in a smaller deep freeze this year if there's any available!! Awesome video here makes me want to invest in a vacuum sealer too but that would be after a deep freeze!! Thanks for the sealing tips!! *Have a good'nnn*

Nice job! Great point about having multiple ways to preserve when you have an abundance....especially during harvest!! We did a little pressure canning last year but you are right it takes a lot more time! God bless!

Great video! Vacuum sealing definitely keeps things from getting freezer burned and funky a lot longer than just throwing it in a regular freezer bag! Once you get brave enough to try out your pressure canner, you will love it! I recommend starting with canning a broth or stock. That was the least intimidating thing to me because it was only liquid in the jar. I used the dog as a Guinea pig to make sure I wasn’t going to poison us. I let the jar sit on the shelf for a week and then popped it open and poured some in her bowl. She didn’t get sick and I hadn’t blown the house up during the canning process so that was all the confidence boost I needed to start canning stuff like crazy! 😁

That is terribly hilarious. I’ve actually told people, when in doubt feed it to an animal first 😅. I’m definitely going to dive in! We’ve waterbathed canned, and pressure canned beans but our beans came out mushy

@@JesusLovingHomesteader Did you cook dry beans before canning them? I have found just soaking them in boiling water for a short time and letting them swell up before putting them in the canner works well. They cook while canning. They hold their texture better with that method if you ever want to try them again!

This is great. A little work ahead of time is a big time saver later. I have been using a salad spinner to get the extra moisture off of my veggies before freezing. It works so great. Sometimes I’ll even freeze the veggies on a cookie sheet separately and then vacuum seal so I can take what I want and reseal. That’s cute! My hubby would weigh everything too. 😅 Take care guys, Annette 🌺 WAY easier than pressure canning! 💯

Hi! I’m 74 years old but never too old to learn. Just bought a vacuum sealer because with just my husband and I (with kids all grown, etc), we just can’t eat some food fast enough….so I end up throwing stuff out….No more! Thanks for your time and instruction! God bless!!!

I love preserving carrots. And I love vacuum sealing, but haven't been doing it but for a year or so. May just be the novelty of it, but I love the way it feels when it is vacuumed. Feels like it is really going to last. We mostly pressure can ours, but mainly because we don't have room in the freezer. And it looks good on the shelf.

Oh the freeze vs pressure canning discussion was happening at my friend's house the other day. I have a pressure canner I have not used, nor have I canned before. The reason I haven't canned is because I have a gas cooktop and it's so hot I cook everything on the lowest temp. I'm scared to blow up my kitchen. Still haven't found someone with a tutorial on a gas cook top. If someone has a link to one, I would be so very grateful. So my friend say "Oh I will just freeze all my veggies from the garden" Which is fine of course but what if your power goes out for days, like it can do here in Canada where we live. Thank you for this video and I look forward to seeing you learn canning.

@@JesusLovingHomesteader I just found you today, so I will have to catch up on all your videos. I have frozen lots of fruits and a few veggies, but I was looking up sweet potatoes and say your video on carrots. I have a cooker/canner and I'm not sure if that is different from a pressure canner. I do not have a wet bath canner. As a child I remember my parents being up till late at night cooking tomatoes to turn into sauce and juice. Peeling skins off boiling hot tomatoes and burning their fingers, then straining and straining....I really didn't want to go through all that myself.

I water bath can and enjoy it but like you I haven't taken the dive to pressure can. Part of my issue is limited space in our home. I have to really think about what multiple uses I can have for larger items I store due to space.
